I know this probably sounds strange, but how does a lease plane get returned to the owner  once the leasing time frame is over?

it will automatically have all routes it's on closed, a message will be sent to both parties regarding the planes return (the lessee will recieve a list of IATA city-pairs of any routes it was on), then it will be returned to the owner under normal status/etc.

there are also warnings for the lessee at 3 months away from return, 1 month away from return (where applicable).
