Not sure if there is a topic about this yet, but what planes do you use for smaller airports, than larger ones? If you can be a little more detailed than saying that you use props to jets, lol. And what would you consider a smaller airport as... 20M, 5M, 100k?  I'm pretty sure any airport above 30M will be ok using a plane with 130 seats or more, and get good profit. I know miles also have to do with the profit of a route, as even with a higher airport population, a short route will be considerably less profit than a longer route of same size airport. What I want to know is, has anyone figured out the formula or ratio of when it's best to use smaller/larger seat planes with smaller/larger population airports.  Thanks for your help, and happy flying everyone!!!!   :) :)

So... Late reply, I know, but:
I try to keep the ticket price between 200 and 300, which means A320-sized aircraft are most useful (B737-800, MD80, Tu-204). As an example, a route from a 30m airport to a 1m airport would definitely be an A320, while a route from a 15m airport to a 1m airport would probably be a 100-seater instead (E190, CRJ-1000, Fokker 70). Smaller airports would typically be served by 40-70 seater turboprops on my airlines.

Ok, I am confused by your answer. It seems as if you are saying some players have hubs(bases) that are 15m?  I don't know who would have a hub that is 15m. All hubs(bases) I have seen are between 100m to 40m. And the routes are all flown FROM these very large hubs.  I fly to airports that have as few as 50,000 passengers, within the limits of the aircraft I use for that hub(base). So, let's say I am using Hartfield(Atlanta) as my hub. And I use a Boeing 757 for airports from 100m to 35m, A320-200 for airports from 35m to 10m, and Fokker 4000 for airports from 10m to 50,000.

Thanks for the information, and if you can expand your tips on the extra information I have just given, that would be even more appreciated!

Thanks and Happy Flying, Captain!!   :) :) :)

From Atlanta the A319 is quite adequate for all the tiny airports. Maybe even the A320.

Some of us players like to base in smaller airports :)
