Thanks all for the help on the forum. I think I know enough now to be mediocre.   ;)

On to my question!

Okay.

I have read the manual, and I know what it means, but I am trying to work out how it would work in practice.

I understand that you can only fly to and from your bases (no alliances)

Legend:

X = Base
A = City 1
B = City 2
C = City 3

If I have a route that goes as follows: X---A---X--B---X---C---X, then in the day (24 hours in game time) the aircraft flys this. The next day the aircraft then does the same again.

But I can't figure out how the .5 works.

If it goes: X---A---X---B---X---C, will it automatically fly back to X to start the next route?

And, how does it know the sequence of routes? Is there somewhere the link them?

Thanks.

The idea is that on a 0.5 the plane flies out on Day 1, and returns on Day 2. So something like this may happen:

Day 1:
X---A---X---B---X---C
Day 2:
C---X---A---X---B---X
and so on.

The routes must be logically linked, the plane must be able to flow through each route you try to make it fly. You can fly from X-A, X-B and lets say B-C, (Assuming B is a base or an alliance hub). You should not be able to close X-B as the plane has no way to get out to C.

Ahhh

Okay, Thanks.

So those two days then form the repeating pattern.

Assuming I have two hubs X and Y, I've been trying to do:

A-X-B-Y-C-X-D with no success as that would make 4 0.5 routes out of X, yet it would be a perfectly functional routing. Is there any way to do this?

The game limits the amount of .5 routes per hub, so you can't operate more than two .5 routes per aircraft per hub. So the route you suggest A-X-B-Y-C-X-D is not possible, only until C.

Just to help me get my head around this, are routes for an aircraft flown in order?

Say I assign a plane 3 flights: 101, 103 and 105. Is this then the order they are flown for that aircraft during the 24 hours period?

The game itself doesn't need the flights to get into any order but it must fit the logic that we have provided it with. There may be one or two quirks however if you keep playing around with 0.5s on the same aircraft.
