« on: January 01, 2007, 10:56:23 am »The airline's name is pretty much clear from the logo, i'd say, but to end all (though unlikely) doubt, my airline's called OrangeAir.
It started out as a small airline based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, serving the biggest commercially attractive locations in Western Europe. We were out there to help the Dutch businessmen. Now, we are bigger than I'd have thought in the time it took. Our first trans-atlantic flight is already planned (as soon as we have the appropriate aircraft ), and our inaugural flight to the Middle-East wasn't that long ago either.
The reason why I chose this brand is actually the same as the one in the press release. I read this article about one Martin H., a promising young entrepreneur, who tried to 'unisolate' the Isle of Man. With succes, one might say, but most would disagree. Naturally, I thought I could do a much better job, so I tried. A lot of energy, young and reckless thinking and crap research should do the trick to create a world renowned airline. Being Dutch, I figured Holland could do with a little Baby Bransonish airline. I still don't quite know why I had to choose Holland, as Europe's skies are quite crowded, but I think I had two main reasons: 1) Many people are quite prejudiced about the Dutch, with our gay marriages and drugs legislation, and this could be stopped by transporting Dutch people all over the world, 2) Dutch people like to travel, but they don't really like KLM.
So, to make a long story short, OrangeAir tries to fill the gap that KLM has left in the minds of the Dutch lone traveller.
I didn't expect this to be this long, i'm sorry
EDIT: Forgot my livery For the story behind the livery, check my press release. It is the truth and nothing but.
The aircraft on the picture is a Boeing 7e7 Dreamliner (in FlightSim 9), the only aircraft I'd really have to buy for OrangeAir as I just really, really like it. And it's an easy texture to work on, as I didn't have a lot of time.

« on: December 30, 2006, 10:33:12 pm »[...] the codeshared flights cud be in different colours on the route maps.
IIRC, the route maps used in AM are from http://gc.kls2.com/, this site just maps the airports used in the route and projects them on maps using red lines. Point of the story, the site doesn't use any other color than red as far as I know. I had thought of this too, but if i'm right about the site colour usage thing, it's not quite possible to do. You could put all the alliance's flights on the routemap, but it'd look quite, erm, crowded if you had a few big airlines.
General Chat / Number of focus cities.
« on: December 30, 2006, 05:17:52 pm »I wouldn't limit it at all, just let the player decide. What you can do, is make it less attractive to have a lot of hubs, by making the focus cities more expensive when there are (for example) 8 or more hubs already. This would in some way act like administration costs or something. Haven't really thought it out yet.

« on: December 25, 2006, 03:37:21 pm »My airline is Echo International in SLC. Can anyone help find out my airline code?
You have to come up with your own airline code, EIL (as said above) would do fine. Only I haven't found a way to change your code after registering, I don't currently have one either. Anyone have a solution?
