I'm pretty sure the month has to roll over then the base will be dropped. Have you waited for this?

So it's just a very awesome coincidence that the map is named amMap?

General Chat / Android Users - Basic App Test
« on: May 04, 2010, 02:42:39 pm »
This is now defunct. I'm moving on to V2

So I got board and wanted to learn basic app scripting for Android platform. I copied a generic template and created a quick launch Airline Mogul app. Basically what it does is installs the traditional app launch button on your menu but instead of running to the browser and having to enter the site in, this goes directly to the full site. To be honest it's nothing you can't do on your own by just opening the basic browser, but hey, it's much more fun to have the AM icon there.

Install Instructions:

Turn on "Unknown Sources" by going to Settings -> Application Settings. Then check the box and click OK.

Next download ( or use ) barcode scanner and scan the square barcode below.  If you don't have barcode scanner simply enter the following web-adress into your browser and it should download do the same thing as the barcode... Download and install.

Note: I'd love to learn more, one of the things I want to do is have a button where you can click for either the game, forum or manual and it would go to specific sites for each. Though since AM is not completely mobile friendly this will have to wait.

Clear Cache. Go into the application settings and clear the cache. It will take up extra space.

There my be some glitches since good parts of the source are copied. :/ I kept messing up so I had to copy the original example provided by Google.

General Chat / Re: Which is Your Favorite?
« on: January 08, 2010, 01:38:31 am »
My favourite browser would have to be Chrome. I only use IE for my email because it won't work in Chrome.
My favourite OS is a tie XP or Kubuntu (Linux). I have a dual boot between each on my computer. Kubuntu is easy to use and free!p, but only XP has all the programs I need to run. I have tried to use Macs a few times and they drive me crazy!
I got tired of Kubuntu and switched to Ubuntu Studio Edition. They KDE desktop kept making me mad. I find gnome a lot more simple to use... I mean in terms of "pretty" KDE has the more windows feel and would be good for a transition... But GNOME seems to be easier to use... Now.. Mint... they have a nice sett-up, but I've yet to try them to see if they offer anything of real interest.

Game Strategy / Re: Fleet Commonality?
« on: December 30, 2009, 09:53:30 pm »
In a way I do. I choose it based on range. I'll choose a distance from my hub and then choose a plane that easily meets my starget range and passenger amount needs. I do tend to change up later on... ( Like if I'm hubbed at Dallas Love, I'll change to bigger planes to DFW, IAH, HOU and surrounding big airports. )

How ever I don't tend to do things like Southwest. I may use 3-4 different brands, but stick with those types. I really wish though there would be added benefits for things like this.

Game Data / Re: A380?
« on: December 23, 2009, 05:53:57 pm »
A380's data is anyway wrong. The speed and the fuel consumption amongst the major things are wrong! Is there a person that could correct the mentioned faults?
What data do you have showing that it is wrong?

We hope to change the world removal system to ensure each user is given a reason for the removal. Some elements of this may include, AM Staff approving reasons and removals provided by game admins, (To make sure the reason is clear, and reasonably valid. Not just "no comment" or "get out"). Possible 'archiving' of airlines for one week after deletion so that the airline can be restored afterwards.

That may be the only way to control this while still giving owners some power in their world. If the airlines are put in freeze while their removal application is over-viewed, might make people a bit more happy than flat out removal. But what would be a list of reasons the staff would approve a removal?  If a world owner said "You can't fly any of the same routes as mine" would this be perfectly acceptable?

24
It would seem that the world owner expelled everyone from the world. Only one user left in the world you mentioned. And based on the forum posts ( http://airlinemogul.com/airlinemogul/world_info.php?wid=1091&t=1 ) it would seem he got 'angry' with everyone and removed them. -shrugs.- This is a risk you take for playing in a non-AM sanctioned world.

The only rule is: only Soviet and Eastern Block A/C permitted!

Then why exactly are you you starting out with a DC-3?

Bugs / Re: MySQL Query Error

I went ahead and gave it a name. Can you please no just make posts with questions marks, be specific in the title so we know what the issue is.

Private worlds are not directly administered by the AM Staff. It's the general policy to not directly interfere with bans made in private worlds and Airline Moguls reserves the right not to refund tokens. This is also stated on the wiki as a reference to the many arguments regarding this subject in the past.

Bugs / Re: Irregularities and inconsistencies in maintenance fees
« on: December 09, 2009, 04:43:12 am »
I just had the same thing happen to my airline in PW#930 - MesAAba.

1/2/89 - 190,000,000 - Monthly Maintenance Fees
1/1/89 - 560,000,000 - Monthly Maintenance Fees

The maintenance fees were killing me.  I started a fleet renewal with A320's but nothing extreme.  It would not have reduced my fees by 370m.  Something was going on.  I am not sure what it is.

How old were these aircraft when you started renewing them?

General Chat / "Wikinews interviews Stephen Murphy" ... Wait... What?!
« on: December 02, 2009, 07:03:21 pm »
I saw this article on Wikinews and and took me a couple seconds to compute that it was not our local Stephen... And here I was hoping that AM got some good press or something. Pity it's just about them Australian folk. So is the first and sur-name rather common? o.O Or have you cloned yourself and gotten into politics?!
