Suggestions / Re: Maintenance on swapped aircraft
« on: January 30, 2022, 05:13:41 pm »
On the backend, maintenance is encoded as if it was a route. It might explain why it is copied over when you swap a route.
In some cases it might be more useful to keep the maintenance on the new aircraft, in other cases it might not be useful. But in any case, negative hours should not appear

General Chat / Re: Attempting to calculate Flight Time to Block Time
« on: January 28, 2022, 03:15:17 pm »
Sorry for not replying earlier. The new block time calculation is more fluid and takes into consideration other factors than just distance and speed.
You can use the route research feature (Operations -> Research Route) to get correctly calculated block times for any airport and aircraft combination.

Which new functions are you looking for? They should all be there, if I remember correctly

Bugs / Re: Aircraft delivered but not available
« on: August 01, 2021, 08:19:53 am »
Welcome to the forum :)
Do you have a link to your airline? What does it say in the order book? The more details you can provide, the better

21
Find the manufacturer and find the aircraft you want to order. It doesn't appear any other places than the manufacturer's page.
The aircraft will appear in the order book at the first available slot after production start

Welcome to public world 3558, first world to introduce these new features!

This world is a bit different from other worlds you might have played in. Take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the changes to ensure you enjoy this world to the fullest!

Order Books are now in place, slowing down the pace aircraft are delivered - read more about this feature in the game wiki

In essence, aircraft manufacturers have limited production. Base production is limited to ten airframes per month, but full order books will trigger a bigger production line. Similarly, empty order books will result in smaller production lines. To ensure some sort of fairness, any single airline is limited to 33% of the output per month when ordering aircraft. This includes most brokerage purchases.

Improved Lease System - now with early return penalties!

This means leases have a fixed period. Within this period the lease can only be returned with a penalty. Some leases are Lease-to-Own, which means the aircraft will automatically be transferred to the lessee (airline paying the lease) after the end of the lease, without closing any routes.

Pre-orders - aircraft can be pre-ordered a year before production start!

Read more about these new features exclusive to this world by clicking the links above. Most importantly though, be sure to have fun and enjoy this world!

General Chat / Re: how planes are divided in build time?

You are very welcome to compile the data necessary for your airline to thrive, as long as it is not used anywhere else for any other purpose.  :)

That's a secret :D (other words for "I don't know").

But at some point the requirements for the different categories changed, so there are some discrepancies here and there. There are also aircraft that take 96 days to build, btw :)

That doesn't sound good. Could you email us some screenshots of the problem on the staff email?

Game Strategy / Re: Please critique my airline?

The way block time used to be calculated was easy: Max speed times distance equals block time.
But that's hardly realistic. Block time is now calculated taking into account taxi time, climb, cruise, descent and taxi time again. Acceleration is taken into account (A Concorde would take a couple of hours to fly 2000 km).

Add to that the higher cost of jets, then it makes more sense to use a turboprop for short routes, despite them taking longer. Turboprops are cheaper to buy.

Of course, with the overheated economy presented in AM, you don't lose by using jets :)

2. What do you mean close hubs share gate costs? I thought each hub had its own gate costs? I know what you are talking about destinations coming from different airports. I intend to have all my hubs meet at every airport, especially each hub. Yes, I know that will mean a very large amount of planes, but that is what I am striving for. I want to be the biggest and best airline.
I wanted to say that if you have two routes to destination X, then you get twice as many routes per rented gate in destination X - maybe saying they share gate costs is not entirely correct though.

3. I looked on the research route tab, but I do not see anywhere where it says or talks about speed. All I see is distance, frequency, and obviously, planes that can fly there. Please explain where you find speed in the research route tab.  Thanks.
When researching a route, click on any aircraft listed as being able to fly the route. That expands the table a little bit, giving you more information including block time and more.

If you're trying to min/max your airline, then you're getting there :) Don't forget to firm your options before they expire!
One point of improvement I could add - although unrealistic - is to open hubs very close to each other. For example, Newark and JFK, or Dallas and Houston, since they would share gate costs at the destination. Only minor though, since gate costs are relatively low for an airline your size.

For very short routes, do consider propeller aircraft. The increased speed of jet aircraft is almost never utilized on short hops. Take a look at the route research page to see a comparison of flight times.

It seems like it now removed prefixed zeroes, so any flight number starting with a zero will have them removed.
