Game Strategy / Help! Too much money! How to spend it?

I have around 1.8 billion in cash, and i'm making money faster than i have time to expand. I also retire and sell of aircraft once they have been paid off. Any ideas for what i could do next?

How about a feature that allows you to mothball an aircraft?

Mothballing an aircraft would remove all maintenance costs as long as the aircraft is stored. The aircraft will keep the same value while in storage. Storing the aircraft, however, will cost a standard fee pr. month, and when bringing an aircraft back from storage, it will take 24 hours to bring it back to the fleet (due to checks and such, also performed in the real world). 

What says thar captain and his crew?

I can't seem to find any airports in the Falklands in the game. Are they included? Are they part of South America, Europe or Africa?

It's been a long time since i was last active on this board.

Anyway, what is the status for cargo? I can see that the cargo numbers for many airports are up. How hard would it be to activate the cargo system? I suppose the aircraft need cargo numbers?

Game Strategy / How much cash do you keep?

The question is simple, how much cash does your airline have.

Do you spend it as fast as possible, or do you save vast amounts? And how much does you airline have at the moment?

My strategy is to save up money, and only purchase new aircraft in larger batches every now and then, with most new aircraft replacing older types. My airline currently has €630.000.000 in cash. My DOP is 11.5 mio...

General Chat / Boeing 737NG range, wrong?

Looking at the range for the Boeing 737-700, they look plain wrong. Looking up at Boeings website, the 737-700 basic version has a range of 3365 nm, not 1772 nm

The 737-700HGW / ER does 5510 nm

Shouldnt Boeing list the most correct ranges? They are afterall the manufacturer

Other than that, perhaps thats the range for a fully loaded 737-700? In that case, the A319 range should be lowered to 1800 nm, as per the Airbus website

So, in a 1970s round i tried to add a single DC-10-10 to my fleet of some 100 Tu-134s, and suddenly i was losing lots of money . What is it like to fly B767s, A330s, A340s and B777s in W10 (the 1990s round)? Do they make enough money to make up for maintainence costs? Whats the average DOP for each type?

When the game was updated some months ago, the ability to open foreign focus cities was added. It seemed like a very good idea. But i am beginning to experience that HUGE airlines that base at major airports like LHR have begun opening foreign hubs in parts of the world that are much harder to operate in, such as Africa. That would be like Lufthansa or Delta Airlines opening a hub in Nairobi. They bomb the local competition completely, in a very unrealistic way, by flying much larger planes at lower fares.

So i suggest there be imposed some kind of restrictions on these foreign hubs. The foreign hub cant be more than, say, 1000 nm from your base. Foreign bases will be subject restrictions by limiting the amount of flights on some continents. (africa restricted to 20 flights for foreign airlines?)

Whats your opinions on this?

Bugs / [Not a bug]Route research error?

So, i had a A320 delivered, and i rented a gate at LHR, AMS and FRA. The A320 could only do LHR and FRA, but not AMS. Luckily ive got an 737-500 delivered in 3 days, do i can, according to route research, fly the AMS route with a 737-500, before i lose the gate. But route research also says that the distance from Ashgabat - Amsterdam is 2723 nm, while the 737-500 has a range of 1955 nm?!?
Can i fly this route with the 737, or will i have to get a second hand ATR-42 to fly the route?

Edit: I should have posted this in the bugs forum, could admins move it?

They arent the best of quality, but are about as good as the 737-300 photo that is already in the game.

Bugs / [Fixed] Wrong location?

According to the game, distance between Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar is 906 nm! The correct distance should be closer to 39 nm.

Distance from Jomo Kenyatta International is 545 nm. Correct distance is 324 nm.

Distance from Jomo Kenyatta International is 415 nm. Correct distance is 359 nm.

I beleive either Dar Es Salaam or Zanzibar are located the wrong places. The coordinates for Zanzibar are 06°13'19"S 39°13'30"E. Coordinates for Dar Es Salaam is 06°52'41"S 39°12'09"E.

Oh, and i used the great circle mapper to find this information.

Hope you can use this information to correct these minor details
