General Chat / Historic Flooding in Washington
« on: January 09, 2009, 06:31:37 am »I-5 the main road between Seattle and Portland has been closed from Olympia (the state capital) down for another 20 miles, due to washed roads and flooding... Rivers in that area have crested at around 70 feet (the big ones) and all rivers there are in record or near record flooding. All the passes through the mountains to EAstern Washington have been closed, I-90, Stevens Pass, White Pass, Mt. Baker Ps, and Columbia Gorge highway. Luckily, Stevens pass has been reopened 1 way each.... but they may have to close again tomorrow for avalanche control.
Additionally, all side streets and rail service between seattle and portland has been cancelled.... meaning a large boost in flights on UA and Horizon between SEattle and Portland. Like an extra 15 dailys for tomorrow and the weekend.
Essentially, Seattle is cut of by land is only accesable by plane... and I guess water but there are no out of state ferries other than to B.C..... Seattle is lucky, we dont have any major rivers near us, but to our south, a big city called Tacoma has 6 feet of water in many places. A major farming and populated are in Snohomish and Skagit counties, to the North had flooding... in places which have never had it before. Luckily... no one has died, but there ahve been many close calls and already, 4-5 million dollars in direct damage has been done, not including final totals and public damage to people livelyhoods. First 12-30 inches of snow... then 4-15 inches of rain ontop of that (the monutains got like 15-20 inches of rain) that spells disaster. Just updating the situation to anyone who's heard.

« on: December 15, 2008, 04:50:34 am »We had 2-3 inches at my house and up north they had 2-6 inches and of course the mountains got 2-4 feet.
However, arctic air has seeped in for instance, todays high temp was 29F and our expected low is 19F
Unfortunatly the snow on my road was plowwed because the plow had to take a detour since its ussual street was having road work done on it!
Well, Seattles average high temp for this time of the year is I think 45F and the low is 36-37F, so were well below normal
----
The unuasul thing about it is that Seattle is not forecasted to go above freezing (32/0) for at least the next 10 days!
Forecast:
Mon: 27/28 .... 17 clear
Tue: 26/27 .... 19 clear
Wed: 29/30 .... 24 SNOW
Thur: 27 ...... 15 SNOW
Fri: 24 ....... 14/15 partly cloudy
Sat: 27 ....... 18 SNOW
etc.
Forecasters even indicated a possible white Christmas
So, how are AM player's winters going?
General Chat / How do I get AI Traffic and other planes onto FSX?
« on: December 01, 2008, 02:24:32 am »So, I had FS9... I knew how to get additional planes in you went to a site saved.... opened....extracted...lookded for it in a file... then moved it to Microsoft Flight Simulator and plopped into aircrafts and if its was just a texture... into the specific aircraft file.
Now, I have FSX ( ).
Unfortunately.... none of the ones ive added are working... My AS and UA 737-800s....BA747-400....Someoether airlines 737-300. So I am sad.
Is the proccess the same for FSX?
Now, for AI Traffic.... I am a little confused on the subject. Does the game automatically create AI traffic with planes that you have added on into the game? Or is there some program that you have to add.
AND... dont you have to downlaod/create flightplans for some airports... e.g. Im not sure the game will have incorperated SEA-CPH, CPH-SEA, etc to see AI planes flown on that route?
Thanks, Nicholas
Flight Simulators & Online Flying / I just installed FSX!
« on: November 28, 2008, 04:56:54 pm »Firstly, my moms/my computer is to old and stupid
secondly, my dads labtop is a work computer so no their....
but.... my labtop which had 13/15 gigabites of space left did not have enough room for FSX!
So I deleted aton of crap and games and.... voila! I have FSX.
Any advice for me? I tried the A321 and managed to fly Algiers to some Spanish coastal city... and I actually got to touch down on the runway..... before vearing off and then on again..... Luckily since I was litterally stalling from such a low speed when I landed, I managed to exit the runway at the first taxiway! I think that is amazing for someone who hasnt played FS9 since Summer of 2007 and I have never learned how to properly land - Anyway, that was fun!
Any good sites to go to get whats it called? AI Traffic? aghhh.. I have forgoten much, so please help.
