Bugs / Projected totals showing 0 on financial page
« on: June 26, 2011, 05:38:01 am »
My airline (ID 47487, world 1699; which, admittedly, I haven't done anything with in quite some time, but it's still active) is showing 0s for all "to-date" financial statistics (both revenue and expenses).  Further, while it does have projected monthly totals for the daily revenue/expense items (ticket revenue, fuel, staff, misc. expenses), it shows 0 for the projected total of all of the monthly expenses (gate rental and maintenance).

What's up with that?

Bugs / [Fixed] Profit not consistent
« on: March 02, 2011, 05:49:49 am »
When I view an airplane's routes, I will often see a profit that is higher than when I edit the same route.  Is there some reason for that?  In one case, the airplane shows a profit that is $4000 higher than what I see when I look at the route's details.

Bugs / [NAB] Airline Rankings sort bug
« on: March 02, 2011, 03:42:42 am »
When you go to the airline rankings page, the default view is to sort by airline value, in descending order.

If you click on the daily passengers header, then it will sort by passengers, in descending order.  Etc.

However, if you click on the fleet size header, it actually sorts in ascending order first.  You have to click it a second time to get it to sort in descending order.

Bugs / [Fixed] Operations page error
« on: February 06, 2011, 01:25:21 am »
In world 1699 (user #47487), when I click on the operations link, I get the following chart of market share data:

Quote
Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) 35.0%
      Denver International (DEN) 66.9%
Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) 66.1%
      Tokyo Narita International (NRT) 0.0%
Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) 35.0%
Denver International (DEN) 66.9%
Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) 66.1%
Tokyo Narita International (NRT) 0.0%
Chicago O'Hare International (ORD) 22.1%
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) 74.5%
Los Angeles International (LAX) 28.9%
Milwaukee - General Mitchell International (MKE) 79.6%

It appears just like it does above, with some cities duplicated, the last few bolded, some indented, etc.

Besides the formatting issues, though, I noticed that, for one thing, it shows my market share at NRT as 0%.  Really, it should be 100% (I'm the only airline at that airport in this world).  Another thing, which I can't duplicate right now, is that earlier it was showing Chicago O'Hare twice, and it actually had a different percentage for each listing (one was 21.something %, the other was 22.something %).

Bugs / [Fixed] Total Gates is not really total gates
« on: February 06, 2011, 01:17:18 am »
On the view airline page, at the bottom of the list of cities you serve, it says "Total Gates:  xxx."   However, that is not really the total number of gates.  Instead, it is the total number of airports you serve.  If it were total gates, the number would be much higher, as airlines probably have multiple gates at their hubs.

[++] Suggestions / Scrap value

How about showing the scrap value of a plane before we commit to scrapping it?

General Chat / Competition info - how is it sorted?
« on: January 29, 2011, 04:21:49 pm »
When I'm creating or editing routes, the competition info doesn't seem to be sorted in any particular order.  It's generally sorted in order of fares, but even then, it's not always in order.

Bugs / Lease aircraft via checkbox doesn't work
« on: January 29, 2011, 04:20:01 pm »
If I try to lease multiple planes at once by selecting the checkbox next to the plane, and clicking the "Lease" box at the bottom of the screen, it doesn't work.  The page that loads has a screwy layout, and when I try to click the box to lease the planes, nothing happens.

Bugs / Aircraft value from Aircraft Market
« on: January 23, 2011, 06:11:29 am »
I've noticed some oddities when buying planes from the aircraft market (i.e. from other players).

When I'm browsing the for-sale list, it will show the plane's value and its selling price.  When I click buy, the value of the airplane changes on the next screen.

In one instance, I used the checkboxes to buy multiple planes at once.  The 737-300s had an appraised value of around $55,000,000, but on the next screen, their values were showing as well over $100,000,000.  (I don't remember the exact numbers, and I'm too tired to go back in and check.)  The selling price, thankfully, does remain constant.

[++] Suggestions / Airport-based turn times
« on: January 16, 2011, 10:36:56 pm »
How about an airport factor for aircraft turn times?  This could be based on passenger traffic (Atlanta or JFK might cost an extra 1/2 hour per flight, smaller airports might have little to no turn time penalty).

This would be in addition to the turn times for the planes themselves, and would account for ground congestion and air traffic delays that are frequent occurrences at the busier airports.

Just thought of this idea when considering the drawbacks to my last suggestion (and many others), which are usually something along the lines of "it helps big airlines and hurts small airlines."

You have two tiers of games:  One tier would be similar to now, with certain "realism" features turned off (thereby making it easier for smaller airlines to get started), and another tier would be more of an expert mode, where players are expected to fend for themselves in an environment with more realistic passenger preferences and flight economics, meaning the airline that buys a 747 and flies it NY-Tokyo can make tons of money, while the airline that tries competing JFK-SFO with an ATR42 vs. other airlines' jets gets its butt kicked?

The tiers would be set at the start of the world, and shown in the world description, so that players would know what they're getting into before joining.  Those that just want to play a leisurely game can join the easier world, and those that want to be extra competitive and risk bankruptcy if they can't compete could join the tougher world.

[-] Suggestions / Aircraft preference/passenger appeal
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:27:45 am »
How about a preference/appeal factor, which might make larger aircraft more attractive?

Hypothetical example:
In the game, you can fly a route with a 757 with 200-some seats, and have to charge $200 to get a 100% load factor.  Charge $205, and it drops to, say, 95%, which is 10 passengers (I'm making the numbers up, but you get the idea).  Meanwhile, someone else can start the same route with a Beech 1900, charge $250 or $300, and the plane will go full.  So, it seems that there are 19 people who will pay $250 to fly a tiny, slow plane but you can't get 10 of them to fly the larger, faster plane.

So, how about some kind of passenger-appeal factor that is proportional to the plane's size and speed?  In real life, if you put a CRJ next to a 757, passengers would prefer the 757 (even if, in some cases, it meant they had to pay more).  This might actually make it worthwhile to buy some of the larger planes (DC-10s, 747s, etc) that are difficult/impossible to justify financially right now.

[=] Suggestions / Create route option
« on: January 06, 2011, 01:48:30 am »
How about an option when creating routes to just type in the airport code for the origin/destination, rather than having to search through the list?

For example, if I'm creating IAH-ATL, I have to scroll down the list, and remember that IAH is really George Bush Houston Intercontinental....etc., and Atlanta is Hartsfield...whatever.

It would be much easier for me to type in IAH in one field, and ATL in another.
