Flight Simulators & Online Flying / Caribbean Tour 2011
« on: June 11, 2011, 07:22:30 pm »
As I have just finish the school year I am going to fly X-Plane more and have decided I will be doing a multi segment tour of the caribbean. So before I begin I would like to ask what people would like to see. I am going to fly one plane throughout the tour and have still not determined what it is so if you have suggestions feel free to leave them here. My one requirement is that it should be able to land at all the destinations so no A380’s :P. I have a rough outline of the tour but if anyone wants to see specific destinations leave them here.

World: PW#1924. Realistic World V2.0
id: 26596
Airline: French Overseas Air

I cannot change my logo, I uploaded it and it said that it worked, but when I look at my airline and at the administration page it is still the old one. I also cannot set a preference for the rent gates page. I have selected countries let it fully load and then hit make default. When I come back to the page later it is this: http://i.imgur.com/q0is4.png

If you can change my logo this is what I would like it to be

Bugs / [Fixed] 757-200 Last Delivery
« on: April 22, 2011, 02:20:13 am »
In AM the 757-200 is taken out of the aircraft list in 2004 but in real life the last delivery was in 2005.

I will be starting Oahu Air (Hawaii) and I have Island Air (Caribbean) and I was wondering what is the best aircraft for both of those regions. I had ATR's for Island Air but the are slow and I could only run a few routes with them. Thanks for the help!

Game Strategy / What should my DOC be before I order A332's
« on: March 27, 2011, 02:34:54 am »
Right about now my DOC is 13.6 million I would be ordering 3 of them to use at my BOS, JFK, and ATL bases.

General Chat / Favorite Turboprop Manufacturer?
« on: March 19, 2011, 07:44:54 pm »
Everyone gets 2 votes! Please explain your choice!
I choose the Bombardier/de Havilland because the Dash 8 i so fast, almost as fast as a jet, but it's a prop so it fairly low cost.
I also added ATR because it is best for short regional flights and the fact that it is a EADS joint venture makes it awesome.

In real life I like the ATR better but for AM the Dash 8

Added fokker and antonov

General Chat / CRJ-1000
« on: March 16, 2011, 01:33:55 am »
I noticed that the CRJ-1000 isn't on the list of all aircraft. It's first delivery was in 2010 but very late (december). I just wanted to know whether or not it should be on the list of aircraft for 2010.

Game Strategy / Best Aircraft for a Caribbean Airline
« on: March 03, 2011, 09:29:02 pm »
I have just started a new airline in PW#1836. Realistic World, which I would really recommend joining if you want to create a realistic airline. Anyways I have just started this airline with some ATR's running regional flights from Sangster, and Princess Juliana. I will be starting medium haul soon but I don't know what aircraft to use. I operate from 5 to 8 million passenger a year airports to very large airports like chicago and New York to intra Caribbean flights. The year is 1998 so the 737-800 is now out along with the A320, A319, A321.

What would be the best aircraft to do these flights and remember that I would like this to be as realistic as possible.

[=] Suggestions / 737, 757, 767 Winglets Retrofit
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:11:16 pm »
I was thinking about how there are engine options for all the plane in Airline Mogul but no options to retrofit aircraft with blended winglets. The three main families that utilize these winglet retrofits are the 737 family, 757, and the 767 family. I have done a little research on these aircraft and their winglet options. This could be like and engine option and could be more useful in the future when runway lengths come into play.

737 Family:
-Offered on the -700, -800, -900 (standard on the BBJ)
-Up to 6% fuel savings on longer flights
-Less effective on shorter flights but reduce takeoff thrust which saves fuel and lowers engine maintenance
-Extends range:
-Winglets cost about $750,000 apiece with another $80,000 for installation for a total of $$1,580,000
-It takes about a week to install the winglets

757 Family:
- Offered on both variants
- Aviation Partners Inc. (maker of winglets) claims a 5% fuel savings and 200nm of extra range.
-Cost about a $1,250,000 apiece plus $100,000 for installation for a total of $2,600,000

767 Family:
-Offered on the -200 and -300 (-400 has raked wingtips like 777)
-”The 767-300ER can be retrofitted with blended winglets from Aviation Partners Boeing. These winglets are 11 ft (3.4 m) long and decrease fuel consumption an estimated 5%-6.5% on the -300ER”
-Hawaiian Airlines says 5% fuel reduction
Couldn’t find an exact cost so I extrapolated, winglets cost $1,750,000 with another $100,000 for installation

Game Strategy / Decisions, Decisions
« on: February 05, 2011, 06:26:12 pm »
So in private world 1757 I had a huge airline by my standards and costs caught up with me so I decided to restructure. I closed all routes and I am in the process of selling/scrapping all my aircraft. Now the decisions for my new fleet that will be based in Boston. I have two fleet plans in thought. It is 2003 so the ERJ-190 and CRJ-900 won't be released for another 1 and 2 years respectively. Keep in mind that I am trying to buy from as few manufacturers as possible.

Fleet Plan 1:
Regional - ERJ-145ER, ERJ-170, ERJ-190
Medium - A320, A321
Long Haul - A332, A333

Fleet Plan 2:
Regional - CRJ-200, CRJ-701, CRJ-900
Medium - A319, A320, A321
Long Haul, A332, A333

Please leave comments and info on what I should buy and why.
