Game Data / Multiple airports in database: Ireland
« on: May 09, 2008, 08:42:33 pm »
The following four airports seem odd to me. They have similar names (at least three of them), all the same pax-numbers, and the fourth one has "ZZZZ" as icao. Probably some of them are obsolete?

INQ EIIR Inisheer pax:18,250 cgo:2
IIA EIMN Inishmaan pax:18,250 cgo:5
IOR EIIM Inishmore pax:18,250 cgo:15
NNR ZZZZ Inveran pax:18,250 cgo:19

At the moment I am serving all of them in world 6... makes me a bundle...

Game Data / Ilyushin Il-76TD
« on: May 01, 2008, 11:27:21 am »
According to Wikipedia, the Il-76TD is a transport aircraft, not a passenger aircraft.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Il-76

I know, Wikipedia is not 100% reliable, but I guess in that case, the Il-76TD should probably be deleted from the game, unless cargo arrives.

Probably it could be changed to Il-86, which is a passenger plane, but it is already in operation in AM.

Maybe you could offer the operators of Il-76TD some free compensation planes, that have similar specs?

Game Updates / Airports in Russia
« on: April 17, 2008, 01:14:21 pm »
I don't know, if anyone already suggested it, but there are a couple of airports in Russia, that should change their names.
They are currently listed under the village they are located, when they would better be listed as the major city they are serving.
Some examples:
Pulkovo-2 should be St. Petersburg
Tolmachevo should be Novosibirsk
Khrabrovo should be Kaliningrad
Koltsovo should be Yekaterinburg
Talagi should be Arkhangelsk

Currently, it would be like listing Vienna (VIE) as Schwechat. I suppose, this is not limited to these examples, and not limited to Russia. Let me know, if I should do some basic research on that.

Also, two airports in Poland have special characters, that mess up in my browser with unreadable signs. Better change them to "normal" letters:
Lodz and Poznan

General Chat / REAL CORP 008: Mobility Nodes as Innovation Hubs
« on: March 14, 2008, 04:22:20 pm »
In places where many people come together, information and knowledge is exchanged and new ideas are created. Airports, train stations and motorway rest areas are not only transportation hubs, but rapidly develop as innovation hubs.

There is a historically unique situation in Europe: The new member countries of the European Union show an enormous dynamic development and also the markets in Russia and Asia influence the development. The unique geopolitical situation has enormous impacts on the real estate business. Vienna International Real Estate Conference focuses on topical trends and perspectives in the field. Beside that the topics of technological development – ICT and the needs of the information society – and the impacts on real estate business will be discussed.

CORP conferences are held annually since 1996 and are Europe's major congresses on Urban Development and Information Society. About 400 experts from around the world from the fields of urban planning, transport planning, information and communication technologies, architecture, ecology, real estate, surveying, multimedia technologies and more come together this year at the Vienna International Airport to discuss up-to-date tasks and topics on urban planning, regional development and information society (http://www.corp.at).

Networked thoughts on space and time

Speakers and participants come as well from private companies, research institutions and public administration. The common element is “thinking in spatio-temporal relations” in the field of urban and regional development.

As on the one hand the real estate sector is directly influenced by spatial planning on all levels and on the other hand strategies, concepts and plans alone do not make a successful urban development it is obvious that it makes sense to have a common look on the topics real estate development and spatial planning with the general topic REAL CORP 007: To plan is not enough.

Main topics

These main topics will be the heart of the conference: "From abstract plans to realized projects: co-operation of urban planning and real estate development in cities", "PPP – Public-Private Partnerships in urban and real estate development", "Private and public space in the city of the future – who pays and who benefits?", "The needs of information and knowledge society for the urban fabric", "Housing the information society", "Transport and logistics buildings: the underestimated live veins of the city", "Urban, environmental and transport technologies and their role in successful project realization".

Speial Workshops will be held:
AIRCLIP: Airports and Climate Protection / Achieving Sustainability at Airports
SECURITY of CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE: Terrorist Challenge As A Threat To Current Urbanisation
SYSTEM DYNAMICS: international developments of SD application in the context of land use, transport and related fields of science.[/list]

REAL CORP 008: Mobility Nodes as Innovation Hubs - 13th International Conference on Urban Planning and Regional Development in the Information and Knowledge Society,
3rd International Vienna Real Estate Conference, GeoMultimedia008.
May 19th -21st 2008 at Vienna International Airport, Office Park 3, Austria.
