Suggestions / Re: Website Implementation

How exactly? This is not a flash game. Making this game compatible with flash sites is unideal and I think would cause way too much hassle and take away from coding of actual new features. *Most* flash games are not made for saving data over long-term play, and I'm not even sure if the staff that does the coding knows how to code in flash...

General Chat / Re: Android Users - Basic App Test

Version 2

So I decided to start experimenting with a new program and have been working on a new app. It's not 100% ready, but I'm liking how its turning out for it's goal. The general idea of it being a neat app to have that creates a quick launch system to a few of AM's main pages. It has a Home, Forum, IRC, Wiki and Token purchases link which launches the browser to those particular pages.

The whole app has been designed to look like Airline Mogul. You can see the sample below which is a screen shot taken from my actual phone. Hopefully when I get a final done, I'll submit it to Stephen for approval... Of course at the moment it's open to criticism and ideas of what should be added to it. Let me know what you think guys. :)

The official name of North Korea is Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). 'Peoples Republic of Korea' is inaccurate as North Korea refers to itself as Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This is the proper UN name.

The Peoples Republic of North Korea encourages all the people of Spain to rise against your capitalist regime and start a revolution, banishing the ways of the capitalist banks! North Korea is willing to supply AK-47s, helicopters, jets and RPGs to the revolutionaries.

( Shouldn't that be 'Democratic People's Republic of Korea' )

[=] Suggestions / Re: Base requirements
« on: September 11, 2010, 09:41:42 pm »
As the starter of the mentioned previous thread about this problem, I'll repeat what I suggested there.

As happens in real world, it's fair that players can choose to start an hub wherever they want. However (as in real world) players that choose to connect all their hubs amongst them should be rewarded by an increased bonus for all their routes. A "network bonus" that adds up to the existing hub bonus.

Better still, the "network bonus" could even (realistically) allow to have higher prices in routes with many competitors.
This would require a rework of how loadfactor is used for the sole reason that you already earn way too much money way to fast. Effectively, the game would need to account for hub connecting traffic. So if there is not demand from the flight, you receive a small amount of demand from other flights, but this is not likely at the moment since the load factor for flights is mostly (if not only) based on Point to Point traffic. Hubs have no real benefit in game other than preventing every airline setting up like Southwest.

This also does not take into account airlines that only have one hub. Why should they be left out of the network bonus? I some times only one want to operate out of one hub. ( I normally play for realism not to be the best ).

The idea is that we need A -> (B) -> C flights. B = hub.  So passenger flies from A -> (B) and 5% or so of the people on that flight go onto C to effectively 5% go A -> C via (B). This is more logical than a network 'boost' because you don't really get a network boost in the real world. And airline can operate fine without connecting any of it's hubs. It simply does it for international traffic. It's rare (there are cases though ) that you'd fly from A -> (B) -> (C) -> D. There is hardly a real life reason to fly between two hubs unless you're flying international or to very small regional airports. Normally when I fly out of my regional I only go through one hub.

Aw. :( You may have to turn on unapproved apps on your phone. I know I had to, however my phone is not locked into ATT's rules... I just use their network. :) <3 Unlocked phones.

There is not much to it. It just uses the browser but displays a nice little icon on your app menu.

I was in the process of researching on how to make another app that gave quick links to different parts of AM (Game, Forum, Wiki, IRC), however I stopped in favor of working on some other website projects. I do plan on trying it again.

However, lets hope someone who knows how to professionally make apps might pick up and develop something nice for us smart phone users that's AM based. ;)

Game News / Re: Use of real world airline and alliance names
« on: August 27, 2010, 04:37:29 am »
I have one question for clarification of this post:

Are we allowed to used defunct airlines that are at least from before or during the jet age of the 1950s/1960s? For example, Capital Airlines, AirCal, Eastern Airlines, etc. Some of these airlines that people have never heard of or never went "mainstream" with commercial services.

Technically, no. The names to these airlines are normally bought out during liquidation and become property of the company that acquires them. Any current or former airlines apply in terms of what was stated above by LostWorld.

If you expand them all, then use it... It should work. So click all the little plus signs, then click the tick all.

« on: August 02, 2010, 10:36:38 pm »
I've seen A321's with CFM engines, pre-2005. e.g. Aer Lingus.
Can you show something confirming that they were made available for airlines pre-2005?

Bugs / Re: 0% Market Share at Hub on Start Screen
« on: August 02, 2010, 12:37:26 am »
When the airport has no other competition at it the market share incorrectly calculates as it encounters a problem with just one airline. I must add in a fix for this.

Yes, I took this into account... However I now do have competition. The same guy flys from my main hub ( he hubs there too this is the one not displaying ) to my secondary hub. My secondary hub shows the percent I run, but the main hub, which he also hubs shows nothing (0.0%).

Hi there,
Click the little plus sign next to each route, then check the 'tick' box. Scroll down to the bottom of that hub and click the 'close routes' button.

This is explained on the manual here: http://www.airlinemogul.com/manual/index.php/View_Routes

Additionally, you can close all the routes on each plane. This button can be found when viewing and individual aircraft.

It should update itself after you logout,  just like the ammap.com route maps.

Nope. This is why I'm posting it as a bug.

Also, the ammap.com route map updates at roughly 15 past the hour. Pretty sure it's not when you log out.

Bugs / 0% Market Share at Hub on Start Screen

My start screen still says my hub has 0% Market Share even though I have competition, I thought competition was suppose to make it display the proper levels?

How does the map handle flights from say Hawaii to Japan or Taiwan... Would it strech across the pacific or go over the US, Europe and the rest of Asia?

General Chat / Re: Closing A Focus Base
« on: May 17, 2010, 10:59:45 pm »
Actually, I think I'm wrong. The Wiki knows like normal.

Quote
If you want to close a base, you will first have to close out all routes flown out of that base. The easiest way to accomplish that is under the View Routes page, selecting the base you want to close under the Show Routes From: drop-down menu, selecting all routes by click on each checkbox, then clicking on the Close Routes  button.

Once that has been done, you can find the Close Base button on the View Gates or Rent Gates page.
