Welcome back :)

Stephen is still around, he is still working for the airlines
The finished worlds get archived in order to save space. This means they're not accessible anymore, sorry
The game manual has been missing for a while, but post any questions in the forum here and I can (probably) answer them for you

Questions for ya then -

1. Does the money spent on terminals reduce your airline value?

2. What browser do you guys view to look at this forum? In chrome and i.e there's no Reply or New Thread buttons, I have to quote someone every time I want to comment.

Doubt anyone remembers me, but I had the urge to come on AM again after many years. I started an airline from Cairo International, which was also my very first airline (before I realized how damn tough it is to operate out of Africa)! Reliving the good old days.

Couple quick questions:

1. Does any know what Stephan is up to these days? Does he still pop in here?

2. Anyone know how to view which older worlds you were previously a part of (nostalgia's getting the better of me)

3. If there another place to access the Game Manual? The link given in game doesn't work.

Yeah, this was all in 24 October 1995. My expenses were paid normally the following day.

I'm not sure what records are kept, but I'll just post what I have here:
At the beginning 24 October 1995, my airline had a value of € 1148123671. It then went down briefly to around € 1076000000 (I don't know the exact figure) and then went up to € 1136148224.

From World 2677, ID 13327, Gauss Air (GUA).
I also posted this in the world subforum, under general.

"I recently built two terminals, one first in Paris (CDG) and the second in London (LHR). Both builds were successful, but I noticed that the first build seems to have permanently decreased my airline value. I thought this wasn't supposed to be the case (from past experience, I've seen that building terminals doesn't change airline value), but I figured it might be a change to this world. The terminal I built in LHR, however, did non decrease my airline value, which was my major concern; at least one of these instances is a bug. "

I doubt anyone still remembers me on here (it's been at least 4 years!) but it's nice to see some familiar names.
Random question: was it a change that you can only go into debt a certain amount for renting gates, or has it always been like that?

Edit: Apparently I came back for a while around two years ago? Good times.

Suggestions / Re: Rotating Starting Aircraft
« on: June 23, 2013, 06:52:26 pm »
This has been discussed amongst staff before, but we are still open, largely, to new arguments.

We see the logical sense that airlines launching in 60's / 70's would likely not use the same launching aircraft as those launching in 40's.

On the other hand, how do we ensure that everyone starts on a fair playing field in the same world, regardless of era? Assuming that the 40's starter aircraft is obsolete in the 60's, shall we use something that has the same configuration (ie. still obsolete), or something more suitable in the 60's (ie. a better plane than those who started in the 40's used)?

I don't see this as that big of a deal, because even 5 years in game is more than enough of a head start - by that point, any airlines that are still actively participating should be huge compared to any incoming airlines, so any difference in starting aircraft shouldn't matter. Honestly, I believe that if the starting aircraft get slightly better it might help to keep longer worlds slightly more competitive over time.

Lol I go through spurts of activity... for a few weeks I'm on all the time and then for a while I just don't log on at all. This is one of the high activity spurts

@ Jayceon - yeah, 380ish AC doing about 2350 routes here - how have a lot of profit though! How old is your game? Have you been replacing AC at all?
For aircraft, I used the BAe Jetstream J61, and then I started using the Tupolev Tu 334 D - it's great - 102 seats, 440 speed, 1200 range, 27 million. I've recently switched over to this other Tupolev with 126 and about 34 million cost, because somehow it takes 48 days to make an aircraft with 102 seats and only 24 days to make one with 126 seats... whaaa? Also I'll post the main route map later - it's cool, so many long range routes... yay.

Update - I now make 30,000 on a CDG - Antarctica 20+ hour route. Yay

Lol, now you're really jealous.
My fleet age is 9.0, with 404 aircraft.
65% of my fleet is under 100 seats, the 30% is under 150 seats.
I started using A319s at like 3 years in, then I realized that there were still 9 years left in the world; my competitors were buying the A330s and assorted high maintainence... now I lol.

Of this insanely profitable 20 hour route, to Antarctica  :D?

I've had this account (on this world, I've been active in the Asia PubW) layout dormant accruing large amounts of wealth for me... so recently I decided to expand the long haul presence... and by that I mean > 9000 miles. I must say, it's incredibly fun. Not recommended for airlines looking for expansion (I mean, look at that 60 million aircraft earning my 40,000/day! Whoopee!), but those of you with similarly large amounts of cash should try this out. My challenge is to fly to every airport with > 5,000,000 passengers over 10,000 miles away; and thanks to this wonderful 100 seat 777 ER VIP, I don't have to buy a death by maintainence A380!

I stick with a 102 seater, but thanks for the help.
I have virtually all my assets in cash (162 billion) so I was wondering what to do with it on the last day - buy a few hundred A-380s or buy several thousand of the cheapest aircraft available. I thought the A-380s increased value, so I was leaning towards that. On the other hand, a fleet size of 280,000 sounds attractive :P (plus and extra 259 every hour...)

General Chat / A380?

I've heard rumors that buying an A380 increases the airline's value.
Is this true? If so, by how much?

Isn't it supposed to be like that?
In my world, (PW #1794) it was always like that.
