General Chat / Some newbie questions about the "famous" .5 rule

Any significant changes (like a "waypoints" system, for lack of better description), would probably take a good amount of coding to implement, on top of everything else they have to do.

I always thought 0.5s should be the end of that plane's routes for the day (since we can't "chain" yet - see below).

I'd also like to see routes being continued(only) from non-base airports. Ex:
base->AP1->AP2->AP3->base.
or:
base1 -> non-base Airport -> Base2

  The route would have to start at a base, can't start from a non-base airport, like current rules. These would all be 0.5 routes to each point along the path, but the planes routes for the day would always end at the last base or airport at the end of the chain. If the chain ended at the same or another base, then it can continue on another chain. If the chain ended up at a non-base airport, then that whole chain would be considered a 0.5 "route" and would continue reverse back down the chain to the base on the next day.

Yeah, all these people leasing out a plane at half it's cost aren't gonna get any business from me. Why should I lease a plane that would cost me it's full price after only 2 months? I'll just buy a new one.

Check to see if the distances are correct between the cities you're trying it on. Been a lot of location bugs lately.

Bugs / Load factor/Profit not same on View Routes vs Update Route

I just tested this out again on a current no competitors route.

Original - €424 ticket price, 1 freq - €23,544 at 100%
After closing & recreating - €423, 1 freq - €23,444 at 100%

Not a huge difference, but it's there.



This might have something to do with the airport locations problem in South America, but perhaps not.

Why only airlines based in big cities can have extra 7 millions but the others can't? It is so unfair. Airlines based in big cities are growing much rapidly because they got 7 million when they started and they bought plane with the money. Day by day their value increases much faster. I think that every one deserves to have 7,000,000.

7M more? is there?

oh btw, just wanna ask that is wyhk in your id represent a school?

Stephen said that players based in big cities can have extra 7,000,000. I saw some airlines' values are 7000000 more at the beginning.

Bugs / wrong distances in routes: Airports possibly misplaced?

Thats happened to a lot of S.A. airports (at the least) within the past few days.

Instead of fixing these as they pop up, any way to fix all broken ones in the DB? Compare to something else, or a previous save/backup or something?

I know this has happened in within the past 2 days. I researched a bunch of routes before buying a new plane. I researched the BOG-MEX route, then soon after ordered a new plane for that. Plane got here after 24 hours, and shortly after that, I went to create the route, and it was broken, among all the others in my other thread that I also previously researched. So, within the last 30 hours or so, something happened that screwed up all these airport locations.

Bugs / Load factor/Profit not same on View Routes vs Update Route

Read this thread and went to edit my routes to see if anything was different.

Most routes were 100% and no competitors before edit. Some routes, I gained 20-60 euros on the ticket price, others, without changing anything dropped from 100% to ~50% load factor after updating info (didn't go any farther to get the price difference from old 100% to "new" 100%). This is without any changes on my part since the last time I edited them, other than just buying 2 planes (1 still on order) and making 1 new separate route to a new city.

Edit - actually, every route I'm researching from BOG is currently wrong.

And if you notice, that "Disance" is a direct copy & paste of the typo from the research route page


I found that BOG (S.A.) to Dubai is currently only 1,891nm... I'm so tempted to make a flight there before this is fixed     (I won't.)

I've tried max (99.99) and even 1 across the board. No change at the time.


I just tried now, and it's now showing.

Earlier, I let it go for a few days and there was no income from it, now that I waited a few more hours(days), it's finally showing up in finance. I don't know why it took so long to finally show up.
