- Varig leaves the alliance "Brasileiros".
- Aircraft KFC CV5800 were chosen to replace the CASA C212-300 on routes with more passengers.
- CASA C212-300 aircraft were assigned to weaker routes.
- Aircraft Beriev Be-32km is being used to test the routes before choosing whether to fly them a CASA C212-300 or a KFC CV5800.
- Until Aug. 25 Varig hopes to buy at least five KFC CV5800 for new routes departing from Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre.

The CASA C212-300 aircraft was chosen by varig to replace the old Beriev Be-32km, CASA C212-300 was chosen by the number of seats and the Range, sufficient to meet the routes in Brazil.

The CASA should operate in Varig until the company reaches 25-50 routes, after that a new aircraft should be chosen to operate in major routes.
