Game Strategy / Re: buying or leasing
« on: July 14, 2010, 06:28:40 pm »
On the contrary! Lease as many S/H as possible, on LOOOONG contracts - 99 months or more, at good rates. You're s/h costs ie maintainance, will be unchanged for 99 months (a/c are unprofitable after 50)! Then you only have to replace your l/h planes & routes. Far less irritating, and more fun to buy! Less time spent replacing a/c and routes!! Not sure if the profit is the same (it wont change for the life of the lease) campared to replacement planes, but it makes the game loads more managable!

I noticed the same thing about the maintenance costs..

So does the owner of the aircraft pay those costs? or how does that work?

You get money every game day. (Your DOC)

One day in the game is a real hour. A month in the game is a real day (only 24 days in a month)

At the beginning of the month you pay lease and gate rental fees so you may go into the red, but the finances screen should tell you what your month end profit/loss will be.

General Chat / Anyone Remeber that SNES game Aerobiz?

Its actually the reason I started playing this game. I got nostalgic one day and did a google search to see if there were any games like it.

This game really reminds me alot of that game except with a ton more detail. Plus being online makes it alot more interesting than playing against an AI.

Game Strategy / Re: Airbus vs. Boeing

Wheres the love for Tupolevs?

The Tu-334-100 is the cheapest plane to have 100 passengers. Its got good speed and fuel economy. It lacks the range of the more expensive airbuses but its good for regional flights.. Then there the 100D variant which has much better range and fuel economy for less money than the Airbus.

The Tu-354 is the cheapest plane to have over 120 passengers while being faster than most of the more expensive planes and having better fuel efficiency than all of them. Again it lacks the range but its good for regional flights.

The fokker 70 is also pretty good for regional flights because of its speed and price, but its not as great on fuel and doesn't have the highest passenger capacity. Still it makes me as much money if not more than the A319's while being cheaper.

Then again, what do I know?.. Im just a newb and ive only been playing a week

Is there any reason why I never seen anyone else using a Tupolev?

Thanks for the reply.  :)

That explains why some of my calculations have been off.

General Chat / noob question, how many days in a month?
« on: July 08, 2010, 09:51:42 pm »
I know this sounds dumb.. But I swore I saw December go to atleast the 29th day but January ended on the 24th.

Maybe I was mistaken, but are the months really only 24 days?..
