General Chat / Re: Use of real airline names?

I've used them, nothing really has happened... I think its ok if the airlines don't complain about copyright and all that mumbo jumbo, and if they have a problem, then fine I'll take it down no biggie. Out of curiosity whats your favorite airline?

Southwest Airlines.....American would be my second favorite. Not necessarily for the great service, but just because they are sort of the "hometown" airline for where I live.

Anyone? I only ask because I thought I read that real-world names were not allowed, but looking in almost every world available, I see literally hundreds of them being used. I would love to use my favorite airline in the game, but don't want to get booted for doing so. I play many other airline management games and with the exception of 1 which isn't very popular to start with, none of them have any kind of a ban on real-world name use, due to the fact that none of it is "for profit". Any light that can be shed would be appreciated.

General Chat / Use of real airline names?

Hi, I have had an account with AM for years, but have NEVER actually played the game. Now, I am interested in getting started but am curious about real-life airline names. I obviously have a favorite real-life airline, and would like to use that name if possible if it does not violate any rules. If the use of real-life airline names is prohibited, then what about airlines that are now defunct? Thanks for any help that is offered.

Where is everyone finding airline logo pics that are small enough to use on your fleet management page?

General Chat / Couple of quick questions
« on: March 03, 2010, 09:19:42 pm »
As a newer player of the game, I have a couple of quick questions:

1) If you are in a public world, what happens when that world is over? Do you lose any aircraft that you have acquired along the way? What about gates that you may have purchased while in that world?

2) If you are able to keep your aircraft, is there any sense in leasing an aircraft that has, lets say, a 120 month lease if your current world only has 5 years left? Will you still be able to use that aircraft in whichever world you transfer to?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but this game operates a little different than other games of a similar nature and it's a little confusing at times.

General Chat / Recommended Military Games??

Can anyone here recommend a very good military game? I would prefer something that involves aviation and is text-based the way that AM is. However, I am open to almost anything military related, as long as it is of high quality and has a lot of depth. Thanks for any recommendations.

General Chat / Re: How To Pick Routes

There is a website that can find all airports within a certain range of another airport.

And, if you're resourceful, the basic gate search is all you need to search by distance.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. The gate search function is exactly what I was looking for, guess I overlooked it somehow in the beginning.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I'll see if I can find some kind of off-site resource that can be used then. Searching all possible routes 1 at a time seems a little much to me.

General Chat / How To Pick Routes
« on: February 19, 2010, 05:38:46 pm »
Is there an easy way to pick a route based on distance? For instance, if I have an aircraft with a range of 1050km, is there a way to find all destinations "within" that range without reasearching all routes 1 at a time? Thanks for the help. I'm new to the game, but really enjoying it so far.
