Game Strategy / Re: MD80/90, 737 or A320 series
« on: December 01, 2009, 02:19:28 pm »
My DOC's arouns 26mil...and I mostly use Caravelles (Super10Bs and -12s) and 707/747s/ plus a bunch of newer L1011s. And yes, maintenance is roughly 3/4 of my entire revenue...I'll explore a bit and seeing that it seems older a/c=higher fees, I guess I'll have to bring in newer a/c.

I decided to go after 'market share' and brought in a ton of A300s for a certain hub-with poor results. I think I'll go for DC-9s or 737s and replace my entire shorthaul fleet, followed by my older 707s, bringing in new L1011s.

The airline commenced operations in the mid 1960s with 2 Fokker-500s on regional routes, but soon began an impressive expansion scheme and the airline is now one of the world's fastest growing operations. The airline was the first to serve all continents, and operates a mixed short and longhaul network from its hubs.
Fleet
Initially, AWA purchased a series of inexpensive aircraft to serve its short-term needs, but in the late 1960s began investing in Caravelle series jet aircraft, the chosen mode of shorthaul transport. For the longhaul division, the airline utilises Boeing 720Bs, 707-320Cs, a VC-10, Boeing 747-200s, DC-10-30s and L1011s.

Future growth plans:
To eventually connect each hub with the other, and to have a comprehensive network served from each hub. The airline aime towards having fleet commonality, but realises that each route is different with different requirements.

AWA is in the Globemasters alliance with AmeriJet, a fine partner with a longterm commitment towards growth and mutual benefits.

Game Strategy / Re: Where should I hub next?

Seeing you've got JFK in the north, something more southern would allow you to tap into a bunch of lucrative markets. I'd go for the airport with less competitors. MCO or MIA in Florida, or indeed CLT would be a good place to start. Don't settle for anything below 20mil in traffic unless its an uncharted hub with absolutely no competition.
