Hmm, ok. I may try doing something like that in the future. It would take a while to transfer all my routes now.

Do two 0.5 frequencies, with different planes, work the same as a single 1.0 frequency with a single plane? Is this a good way to use up the leftover hours on my planes, or does it not work well?

When you're viewing an aircraft you already own, over on the right where you can rename that paticular aircraft, there's a link that says close all routes. If I were to click that, would there be an option to re-create all those routes, either at the same time or individually? Or does it only close those routes without giving you an option to re-create them afterwards?

I noticed that the Google route map doesn't work in IE 8, not sure if that solves your problem. I can view the Great Circle Mapper route map and the new fancy route map fine in IE8.

Airline Reports / [PW# 1291] Olympus Airways
« on: September 05, 2010, 02:56:57 pm »

Olympus Airways is one of the largest worldwide airline operators with 301 destinations worldwide, that number growing each week. We have complete coverage in Europe, North America and Australia, and are currently expanding our coverage in Asia. We also offer a number of flights in Africa and South America. We operate several different types of aircraft, but our fleet mainly consists of the following:

Fokker 100/MD-87 (Regional, low-demand routes)
A320-200 (Domestic, medium and high demand routes)
B757-200 (Domestic, very high demand routes)
B767-200ER (Intercontinental routes)
B777-200ER (Intercontinental routes)

We recently ordered several new Airbus A319s to replace our current Fokker 100s and MD-87s, as they are getting old anyway and need replacements. The A319s carry more passengers and are a nicer experience for the passengers that fly in them. You will start seeing these A319s flying to airports across the world in a few months. We also ordered 5 new B737-800s, to see how they perform for us. One of these will replace the old B737-400 operating out of Houston.

I know what you mean about replacing routes, although I recently discovered that you don't have to set a flight number manually, and now it takes 15 secs :p

Yes, please explain how the recreate routes makes it worse, I'm not sure what you mean there.

In my opinion, use the A320. Cheaper than the 737, very profitable and similar stats. I just tried using A321's in my expansion to Australia, and from what I found they are no better than the A320, They make the same, if not less profit, and lower your loadfactor because they have 40 more seats, yet there's not enough passengers to fill those seats. They seem too large for the "very good" routes, and too small for the "excellent" routes. However I have yet to try the A321 in high-density areas such as Asia, North America or Europe, so I can't say completely if the A321 is worth it or not. Not to mention it's more expensive than the A320.

Thanks, I guess I'll stick to my original plan then, using 757-200's for excellent routes and 767-200ER's for long-range excellent routes.

I have a DOC of 40 million, and am wondering if there is a better choice out there for "excellent" ranked routes. Currently I mostly use 757-200's on the "excellent" routes, but recently purchsed a few 767-200's just to try them out. I also saw the A310 as a new plane I could use. The 757-300 isn't out yet in my world, but it will be out in a few years, and I was just wondering is the 757-200 sufficient enough for the "excellent" routes, or could I upgrade to either A310's or 767-200's (or 757-300's when they come out) without it costing me too much in maintnence?

Leasing is good, but don't get sucked into it like I did my first world. I kept leasing and leasing and didn't own a single plane.

As for your question, I recently purchased 10 F100's for use on my "good" ranked routes, and they are doing quite well. I choose them because I thought the A319 had a bit too many seats for the "good" routes, plus they were 10M cheaper.

I pick which ever plane offers the best performance for the price for the range I need. I don't care about manufacturer.

Same here. I compare stats, whicher one has the best stats for what I'm looking for, I go with.

I've found, correct me if I'm wrong, that medium aircraft like the 757-200 can be pretty profitable if used on shorter popular routes that are ranked "excellent". Right now I'm using A320-200's for "very good", and sometimes I use them for "good" aswell, but I've started to use MD-87's on the "good" routes. I haven't done any avarage routes yet, but if I do I'd probablly use the CRJ-100 or Fokker 50. But as for the giant aircraft like 747's, A330 and A340's, they cost so much in maitnence they are just for fun as you say.

And, with me using the 757's, so far it hasn't hurt me, I am ranked 3'rd in my world and am closing in on 2'nd. That's up from last place about 2 weeks ago.
