General Chat / finding out about gates before renting

Ok maybe I'm just missing this (most likely the reason)  but how can I tell what kind of rating a route will be without actually renting the gate.  Like I rented a gate at a airport and went to start a route from my base and it said it would be poor.  Is there a way to tell so I won't have to lose the rental fee first?

its really driving me nuts I can't open up anymore routes.  I can't wait to get another plane.

ok so I got another gate and now my plane cannot fly anymore routes.  I don't have enough cash at this point to buy a plane.  I might be able to lease. i have doc of 65.5k and there is a couple planes for 800k.  one is a 3 month lease one is a 120 month lease. 
Name     BAe Jetstream J61 is the 120 month lease
the other is a
Name     ATR 42-500 for a 3 month lease.

Should I ride out my slots for now and build up some dough and buy a plane or lease one of these?

Haha, you aren't doing anything wrong. What happens is each gate can hold ten flights a day. So you can have ten flights and only use the one gate, since the game doesn't do time slots. What happened last night was a new month started. At the beginning/end of each month all of the monthly costs are charged to you. Each of the gates you rented, which are probably 50k each? Anyway each of these gates are added up and billed to you; along with a few other costs. Anyway, one more suggestion is to have only one frequency per destination. You'll make more money by having more destinations. Say you have one route with one freq. and you're making 30k adding another freq makes you an additional 5k, you'll make more money by just opening up another city. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys.  Yeah I read another thread about frequency and fixed that and it made a world of difference.  I also fixed my prices on my drinks and stuff.  When I got home just now my account was 500k in the black.  I gave my 2nd gate back to my base airport until I fill all my routes on the first one.  Then I'll add it back.

to get my second plane (whenever I do) should I lease or buy?  What is the advantages/disadvantages of each.

This is the plane I started with Antonov An-38-200.  But can I buy another plane if I have insufficient cash?  In other words will it allow me to go into the red to buy a plane?  Or should I make some more routes with this one first?  Like I said I have 3 routes to 3 different nearby airports.

update on this.  i changed my frequencies to 1 on my routes and that greatly reduced my debt as well as changed my service prices.

i just now realized that i only have one plane doing all the flights.

sorry I'm being a noob.  just looking for some advice on where to go from here.

ok i just caught this myself after reading this thread.  I have 3 routes from my base airport and had frequencies of 2 at two of them and 3 at one.  I didn't quite understand the frequency thing either.  after going back in and change frequencies to 1 on all i was able to increase the ticket price by about 100 more than what i originally priced.  The profit isn't that much different but the expenses come down due to no multiple flights.  as soon as my balance gets back in the black i'll open up some more routes.  i also adjusted the food price to 23.00 for everything.  my question though is if you have competition on one of your routes should you try to undercut him or go with a higher price to maximize profit?  i have only one competitor on 2 of my routes.

OK I know maybe I shouldn't have picked a smaller airport to start my Business but I picked it because it is near my hometown.  I started 3 routes to other nearby airports.  Had 200k left in my bank balance last night.  This morning I am in the red 200k.  I also gfot a message about an unsused gate that will go back if I don't use it.  How do I utilize the second gate and what did I do wrong with the routes?  should I have started more routes?
