Game Strategy / Re: About competition
« on: January 11, 2010, 08:07:12 pm »
hi. i am decreasing the prices in all my flights to be the the cheaper one but my market share doesnt grow. why? thankyou

Your market share will grow when offering more seats either by assigning more aircrafts to fly the new routes or replacing existing routes with larger aircrafts and updating your load factor if it is low, if you haven't done that already.

Game Strategy / Re: Best Airport to Start in

To answer the OP's question, the bigger airports 300k+ airports in Europe and North America will yield the most if you can maintain your routes. If you find other regions interesting and you don't really have to live there lol, they can still be profitable if you choose your airports wisely, you also might want to consider acquiring a large foreign base to greatly boost your income in the smaller regions. As for me, I live in the outskirts of NYC, but I tend to base on continents outside where I already live.  The fun factor comes in playing a region not many will base at and try to do well on it and pull that continent 'up' among the 1st class continents.

When I played in Central America in one of the Full World map in a public world, I started out in Mexico city as Aeromexico then chose a nearby large foreign base in Houston as my second focus city. Also played Africa twice as South African Airways, I chose ORLY and MUC for my foreign focus city and the rest are African airports. They all increased the airline value tremendously. If you want to make all your hubs local, that's fine too, just pick the big ones and ones with lots of airports in the area. If all else fails, pick whatever region appeals to you at that moment  :P

Just remember that focus cities created on your home continent takes up 1 slot from the total number of focus cities you can make. Focus cities created outside your continent counts as 2 towards the total.

General Chat / 3 Different Rankings with different placements
« on: July 25, 2009, 04:47:45 pm »
Why are there 3 different ranking numbers for an airline? One of your ranks comes from Report/Ranking page, the other comes from your home page, and the last ranking comes from the World View page that anyone can see. The world view page can contain the list of brokers, which I understand, but the other two don't and those two also state two different numbers.

General Chat / Re: Core 2 Quad or Core 2 Duo?
« on: March 12, 2009, 08:28:29 pm »
Quad Core does not translate to 2x the speed of Dual Core. There may be a significant boost in performance depending on the type of applications you are using but it wont be 200%.  Generally speaking Quad Core are useful for people that needs to have multiple programs running at the same time, those are programs that require lots of computing power.  Some high-end games will enable you to make use of all of them. Some will opt for dual core where they see little gain in performance with Quad Core for the kind of work/play they do and maybe use the extra money to get a higher clock or invest on other parts.

No, but it is located within the Pacific Rim. Southeast Asia to be exact and it once served as a Naval  Air Station for the U.S.

Game Strategy / Re: The stupidity of Multifreq

Yes but the best strategy is to "base" your aircraft at one of your bases.  I use the "Fleet" system to manage these.  For example, in PW 350 I have my planes split between PDX, SAN and Mexico City-based.  Makes assigning them easier....

You must have a headache doing that when its that time to replace/upgrade your airplanes especially if you've got a fairly large fleet to manage, not to mention the lag if you're unfortunate enough.

Bugs / Re: "Create Route" Slow down
« on: February 23, 2009, 03:42:22 am »
My observation after the patch. There is a noticeable improvement in loading speed when looking at aircraft between manufacturers (takes less than a second now, where as before, takes up to a minute for my broadband connection)

But getting there you have to go through View Aircraft which sometimes takes a while to load (just as slow as the other pages in the Main menu), and then sometimes it loads almost instantly within about 10 minutes of time frame.

Yes all other public worlds must meet either conditions (although Im not sure if you can mix them around with one world being filled and the others having 1 game year left).

In the case of W350, when it was created, all other worlds was at least 80% occupied.

Game Strategy / Re: Best Countries to Base In
« on: January 18, 2009, 09:05:09 pm »
THis is good for nice to know things in rl but in the game it's different. Some countries have proportionally way less airports than what is said on the page. Ex. North Korea 77 airports according to the page but in AM just 1. I think the rent gate (listed by countries if you want to know the total airports in a country) and of course the gate search is much more accurate.

Good stuff

I'm assuming you would not need to register for the in-game forum, correct?
