Game Strategy / Re: The stupidity of Multifreq

If everybody adapts to the actions of those few that are doing the multi-freqs, there would be complete insanity.

OK, here we go, this is the type of stupidity that is ruining the routes for all.

Airline 1   Vickers-Armstrongs Nene-Viking     10    €150
Airline 2    BAC 111-400     2    €170
Airline 3   Boeing 727-100    3    €174
Airline 4    Potez 841    5    €125
Airline 5    Fokker F27-400    3    €145

You are not talking about the crazy multifreqs in W350 are you?  LAX-SAN LAX-LAS are insane, some people have 3 frequencies and that is driving the profits down.

Game Strategy / [W350] A good replacement for the Fokker F27-400
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:41:08 pm »
I have a couple of F27-400s based in my ABQ hub in W350 and am thinking about replacing them.  What is a good replacement for these aircraft.  My routes they are on are not major routes (not sure if the links below will work or not)

Would a better prop work or if I upgrade it to something like the DC9-15 would that be good for these routes?  I feel that 40 seats is not enough, but these routes do not need my smallest jet, the SE 210 Caravelle Super 10B.

Bugs / Re: Cannot Close Routes

Thanks for the replies.  I forgot to mention that I was trying to close them one at a time.  I am not sure why I didn't think about it, but closing all of them at once worked and I was able to sort out the mess and make better use of my aircraft.

Bugs / Cannot Close Routes
« on: February 10, 2009, 11:21:10 pm »
I have a little problem.  Somehow I have an aircraft flying routes out of two hubs that do not share cities.  See this link for an example: http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gcmap?PATH=KLAX-KCOS,KLAX-KOAK,KLAX-KSAN,KLAX-KAUS,KABQ-KFLG,KABQ-KTUL,KABQ-KMEM,

I have another aircraft that is based in my ABQ hub that has enough hours for the ABQ flights that are in the aircraft in the screenshot above.  When I tried to close the routes and recreate them with the different aircraft, I get the following error:

Route closure not allowed.
Existing route is the only connection between two or more other routes flown by this plane.

I have not been able to find a way to get around this.

This is in world 350 and the plane affected is 3647 and here is a link to my airline..

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

General Chat / Re: Multiworlds: is it good, or bad?
« on: January 05, 2009, 11:35:39 pm »
To be honest, i liked Public Multiworlds only. Private worlds have ruined the bondage of players, and has ruined what Airline Mogul is famous for, high competition :P! Without high competition, Airline Mogul is not unique enough... the only thing unique is the Irish Green, or maybe the "Hot Pink" that was on the old game :P

I have to agree here, ever since the private worlds came into play, the public worlds have died up and are sometimes only 5 years long now.

.. fair enough.. but then why most successful airlines have purchased their aircraft instead of leasing them?

thanks..

My strategy was to buy the aircraft 2nd hand and then replace it with a new model when I could afford it.  I did this in I think W9 with the F28-200, I bought several cheap used models and replaced them with new models when I could afford the purchase.  I leased an aircraft once, but then returned it when I was able to buy the same model.  I used the F28s to get my fleet into all F28s and then used the money to expand into B737-200s.  I also purchased a couple of B727 Executive Jets, and I think those were a waste of money because of the number of seats they have.  I have them on longer routes, but I need to get them on some shorter routes.  May not be the best, but it works for me and has kept me in the black and able to compete with the airlines out of my hub and that serve the cities that I do.
