Airline Reports / Re: TARDIS Travelways (799)

It would appear the previously mentioned problems continued to plague the Tardis Corporation. I see they not only are no longer the airline of choice in Public World #799, but they are nowhere to be found. Did they take everyone's $$$$ and simply jump into their empty airplanes and take off into the sunset?

TARDIS reaches 1 Million mark

Munich-- TARDIS Travelways CEO, Dr. Tom Baker, was all smiles today as he greeted airline staff members at Munich's Franz-Josef Strauß airport. The occasion was a happy one, as the boss was there to announce that TARDIS had reached the 1 million passenger milestone.

"This is a good day for the airline," commented Dr. Baker. "We begin 2001 as the world's most traveled airline. Of course, we continue to look for ways to keep attracting new passengers, and hope that expanding at our current bases and introducing some larger planes to the fleet will allow us to keep growing."

In mid-December 2000, TARDIS welcomed aboard passenger 1 million. At the beginning of January 2001, the airline was welcoming aboard 1,043,928 travelers each day.

I had the misfortune of taking one of your flights from Heathrow. Worst flying expeirence of my life. Motivated me to start my own airlines. I see empty seats in the Tardus horizon.  8)

We are not that happy to know you got rid of 60% maint. :(
You only have one nerve?

It's been happening for the past 12 months.  8)

That brought a smile to my face.

We have a solution in the works, which should be released shortly.
Glad to hear it Stephen. I've really missed playing. Drop me an e-mail or PM once it's in place. Then I can start terrorizing all the lads again.  8)

Love my Jags. Started with an X-Type 2.5. Added an XJS. Upgraded to an XF last year. Aspiring for an E-Type before I die!  8)

I must agree.  Editing routes at times takes 2-3 minutes at a time.  I know of a few of my buddies who are playing and who are experiencing the same issues.

Good luck! I have my fingers crossed...

Mr. Gisa ^^
The game is unplayable and no fun when it takes this long just to edit an existing route, not to mention even considering setting up a new route.  8)

Bugs / Re: Server Trouble?

How is the server performing now? From what I can see the work that Air Elbonia has put into performance enhancements has made a very noticeable effect on the server resources.

Half of these tweaks are a result of our consultant.  Hopefully the site is performing better overall.
It's not. Same old stuff.  8)

Maybe another half dozen more small optimizations applied.  varying degrees of how often they're triggered.  hopefully there's continued small improvements made.  We're looking into ways to fix any noticeable lag in create/edit/close route specifically, however at the moment the only solutions I have continue to be the spillover related stuff.  Sorry.
There was a time when all of this mattered to you guys. It saddens me that it doesn't anymore. But Jackie Paper grew up too.  :'( 8)

Patch attempt on what I think is the problem child of the game, from the looks of it I'm probably right as to it being a bigger cause of lag than anything else...

Let me know if the site appears any faster/more consistent from this post forward.
So do you only want to know if it appears any faster, or if it has made absolutely no impact whatsoever? When you hit 'create route,' it spins, and spins, and spins, and spins...........2-3 minutes. The game is not fun, and it is not playable, when it is (mis)functioning like this. This would be one of the main reasons you have lost so many of your original players, and one of the main reasons you can no longer fill up a public world. But in the meantime, I have gotten really good at Tiger Woods Golf on PS2. (hey, my screw-around time is still my screw-around time. Gotta do something non-productive!)  8)

Patch attempt #2 in place.

server load/cpu usage seems to have dropped, no garauntees it's from the patch though (you're right the game does have something in the way of phases).

in the lab attempt 2 appears to be quicker/lighter/faster than attempt 1 or base.  feedback will be appreciated on attempt 2's success/failure/issues.
Nada. So when does Patch #3 come along?

Thought everyone might enjoy this... 8)

This story happened a while ago in Dublin, and even though it sounds Like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, its true.

John Bradford, a Dublin University student, was on the side of the road Hitch hiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a storm. The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly, he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped. John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got into the car and closed the door, only to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn’t on!!

The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road ahead and saw a curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life.

Then, just before the car hit the curve, a hand appeared through the window and turned the wheel. John, paralyzed with terror, watched as the hand repeatedly came through the window, but never touched or harmed him.

Shortly thereafter John saw the lights of a pub appear down the road, so, gathering strength, he jumped out of the car and ran to it. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and started telling everybody about the horrible experience he had just had. A silence enveloped the pub when everybody realized he was crying and….wasn’t drunk.

Suddenly, the door opened, and two other people walked in from the stormy night. They, like John, were also soaked and out of breath.

Looking around, and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to the other. “Look Paddy…..there’s that f ..king idiot that got in the car while we were pushing it!!!!”
