Airline Reports / UK Airways Ltd - World 2444
« on: September 29, 2012, 08:00:47 pm »
Manchester-23rd October 1973

Having started with a single Embraer 110C operating on key domestic routes, UK Airways Ltd has grown to be the dominant carrier at its home base of Manchester with almost 2/3 of all arriving and departing passengers at the airport flying with UK Airways at the time of writing.

The airline's fleet has expanded to includethe following aircraft:
3 Embraer 110C
8 Fokker F27-400
10 Fokker F27-600
3 Sud Aviation SE210-10B

The Embraer 110C aircraft operate under the "UK Airways Express" brand serving smaller airports from Manchester. The Fokker F27 aircraft serve the bulk of the airline's more than 150 destinations across the UK, Ireland, Iberia, Western and Central Europe, Scandinavia and Italy. UK Airways recently introduced 2 SE210-10B aircraft as its first jet aircraft. These 2 aircraft serve 15 of the airline's most biggest and important destinations providing greater speed and capacities than the Fokker 27s they replaced.

The airline is currently waiting on the delivery of 3 further Embraer 110C aircraft to allow the airline to revamp and expand the "UK Airways Express" brand while also allowing it to retire the oldest serving member of its fleet. 3 more F27-600s will provide more routes to Scandinavia, Iberia and Central Europe while the new SE210s will allow the airline to provide the greater capacities and speeds afforded by the jets to more of its key existing destinations while also adding new destinations in Eastern Europe.
