Title: Horrible Internet in Asia
Post by: gizgiz on December 28, 2006, 04:25:20 pm
I'm sure plenty of you have heard about the Taiwanese earthquake. I'm sure at least some of you know about how 3 undersea telecom cables were severed and a fourth severely damaged, resulting in an almost complete halt in telecommunications between Asia and most of the world..

Here's how bad it actually is :P

1) MSN doesn't work. Period.
2) If you can get on any website, you're considered lucky. Gmail and Google are exceptions. Most can get on those two fine.
3) European websites are easier, I usually get there in 2 or three tries, but at an utterly disgustingly slow pace...took 40 seconds to load every AM page :P
4) North American websites? Don't even think about it, I haven't heard of any of my friends or myself accessing a single one.
5) HK webistes? No problem
6) China? Fine. Taiwan, some slight slowing down here. Japan, nope. Sinagpore, nope. Australia/NZ? Nope.

Today's headlines: "WHat would you do without the Internet?"

I'll let you answer that :)
