Besides raising prices on routes, how else could you increase revenue?

more routes?

I think that is what is getting me in trouble.  I have so many routes, but the profits are not always impressive.  That comes as a surprise.  I had to ax my JFK-BOS route (which had a great outlook) because I couldn't make a decent profit.  What about flying to airports that have little or no competition?

you can lease and sell planes. Also, you can open new hubs 8)

For routes like JFK-BOS that evidently has like 40 people running it, the only thing you can do is sell more seats.

I have and MD82 making very good profit on JFK-BOS.

Build some gates at your hub.
Buy fuel efficient aircraft.
Make passengers pay for food and drinks :twisted:

Did you ever bother to read this (http://stephenm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=62012#62012)?

I think you could improve your strategy a little bit. Some pointers:

1) Forget about multiple frequencies until you've grown your airline a little more (hmmm... make that a lot more);

2) Mind what you lease. Leasing is a good way to accelerate your growth but a DC-9 can get quite expensive and will give you only a fraction of what several smaller planes (for the same price) would bring;

3) You're competing with airlines that are much bigger than yours. Instead of throwing yourself into big routes with lots of competitors already in, search for niche markets. Believe me, there are still some routes out of JFK where you can go alone (though not for long, with me there).

Also, take it easy. It takes some time until real money starts flying in. You just have to be patient and make few mistakes. After a while it starts getting much better, you'll be growing faster, buying the planes you really want and having more fun. :wink:

P.S. - DON'T build gates at your hub until you really have to. Building a terminal costs a lot of money that you should invest in new planes instead.

Join an allaince.  You get a boost to LF demand if you do.  Only if you have the money to join, though, of course. :D

It's there, it's just often negated by competition.

I don't know...you tell me. I'm making like 80 grand. I'm considering throwing a 757 on it if I happen to have hours left on one.

Well I just bought aircraft to lease out.  How long does it take before they are listed?

I am having trouble listing them.  I enter an amount, but it tells me to enter a monthly amount.  I don't understand why it is telling me to do something I already did.

Are you sure you put the lease rate in the correct box? I had this once, until I figured out that the box I was typing in was the ID box and the rates should go in the one below...

Yep, I put it in the right box, but it won't put the plane up for lease.

No commas in the rate, and make sure it is within the range.
