Title: Hello from Boston!
Post by: Wanderlust on February 22, 2009, 08:07:04 pm
Hi all! Wanderlust here.

Just joined up yesterday. Trying to learn the ins and outs of this game and finding it really complicated. I have no idea how you wicked good players do it!

I'm on public world 350 as Wanderlust Airlines operating out of Boston Logan International Airport (my real-life hometown airport).

As of now, I have 1 plane flying 1 route, and about $250,000. Where do I go next?

Glad to be here, and hope to improve. :D

Only do 1 frequency and start small (get as many flights on that Potez as possible).  Rent some F-200s or SE Caravelle's as soon as you can because that will help boost your earnings...

How do I get out of this $108,000 debt?

So long as you have a positive DOC, just wait.  Max out your initial Potez with as many single frequency routes as you can.  Fly to airports with the highest number of passengers that are closest to you to maximize your profit and play with your fare to balance your load factor and profit.

Don't forget that all expenses get taken out on the first of the game month. I've found that slow and steady causes less frustration  :P

Hi, Boston. I'm from Milwaukee, and the basics of this system don't agree with most airline ops. Why you would rent a gate for $200,000 a month, but only fly there once a day from your hub is crazy.

Check out Luzon Air in Manila, that's me. I've just started in this system too, and it does require some getting use to. Good luck and have fun!

Wanderlust, don't forget you can rent gates at airports you don't have gates for even if you are in the red. You can fly more than one route with one airplane

As I found out the hard way, don't try to fly your one flight a day to cities with high gate fees until you have some real cash flow and a big plane. The Potez does a nice job of serving those smaller cities for you and the lower gate fee lets you keep more $.
