Title: Introduce yourself
Post by: Niekleair on January 19, 2009, 11:55:33 pm
I have not found such a topic, so I started this one. Might be a nice place to introduce yourself to other AM Players and share whatever info about yourself you like.
I'm Niek, A 21 year old Dutchman, and play AM for about two months now (real-life months that is). In the meantime I became quite addicted to AM.
Some info about me:
Favored airlines (I have not flown with most of them, but I somehow regard a high image of these airlines)
Air Canada SAS KLM Lufthansa
Favorite Airplanes: - Lockheed Tristar (Old, but beautiful) - Dornier 328 (all variants) One of the best looking planes flying today - Airbus A340 - Ilyushin IL-96
Planes I don't like: - Airbus A380 - DC-9/MD-80
Most used airplane in AM (as of Januari 20 2009): Boeing 737-200

Want to fly once in: Lockheed Tristar 8) Airbus A340-600 Boeing 777 Dornier 328 Whatever propliner, so you can actually see where you're flying! I'm 6ft tall, so flying is no crime for me, I fit easily in nearly any seat.

Im a 14.5er living in Seattle. WAs born in LA then moved to Kentucky when I was 2 before moving to SEattle when I was 3. Ive also lived in greece fro about half a year.
(Both my parents are from Europe)
My favorite airline is UA and I wish that they'ed add ANC,SAN,JFK/EWR,HNL, and all those other destinations back. I dont like NW/DL and I have mized feelings for AS, but Iwish that they would add SLC,DTW,IAH,AUS,ATL, MSY, JFK, and IAD. As for Horizon, they are my fav regional carrier and I love the Q400 with QX's service. I think they should new destinations in Canada and the Inter-mountain west like Castlegar, Redding (direct), Crescent City (direct), Pocatello, readd Butte, Moses Lake, Olympia, etc.
My fav plane of all time is the 757-200 followed by the -300. Then comes the A321-200 and the Tu-154M in a tie. Followed by 767,777-300,747,A340,737,777-200,MD-11,A330.
I hate all other A320 series planes and I hate the DC-9/MD-80 planes :D
Most used plane on AM.... 737-sometyhing.

Ok, me then. Jan (almost 34) from Germany. My addiction to the aviation began with a plastic model I received ages ago. My first sim was FS2 - sticking now with FS9 which is besides other little things my main hobby. I am with AM since a while now (you may visit the staff page for more information ;) )

No one else in my family is remotely interested, so I never went. Plus, it seemed on the tad expensive side.
Like Jan, my first flight sim was Flight Simulator 2.0 (I mean, check out the sweet graphics (http://www.mobygames.com/game/pc-booter/microsoft-flight-simulator-v20/screenshots)). Unlike most everyone else here, that was also my last flight sim (well, I did win a copy of Flight Simulator X at a vendor meeting, but I only played that for about an hour).

Well some of you know more about me than I care to let you know, so I'm not going to mention my name. It'll likely compromise my anonymity here :) But here's some more information: I live in California, and I go to university in New York. Econ major/law and society minor with law school and lawyer aspirations. I'm 20.
Some info about me:
Favored airlines
Asiana jetBlue Singapore Airlines
Favorite Airplanes: - Boeing 777-200ER/300ER - E-190 series - Airbus A320/A321 - Airbus A340-500/600
Planes I don't like: - All turboprops (loud, slow, ugh) - A318/319 (they look, well, awkward) - A380 (from a business and aesthetic standpoint) - The entire UA fleet (this is specific to the UA fleet; 777's operated by Asiana, for example, are fine by me :) ) - All regional jets (horribly uncomfortable, and some of them ugly to boot) - Russian planes (they look, well, so ugly) - 737's (they're too short)
Most used airplane in AM (as of Januari 20 2009): I haven't played in a while, but I think it was the A320 series and the A330-200.
Have been passenger in (most recently): United Airlines (p.s.) I guess most of the old AM'ers noe me. I am Mark and i live in plain old boring Perth, AUS. I am a Chinese Descent that is 16 turning 17 soon. Born in Perth, lived in Malaysia (my parent's home country + my fav country)for my first three years before returning to Perth. Aviation-Addiction prob started on my first flight when i was two weeks old on Malaysia Airlines (back then known as Malaysia Airlines Systems!). FYI, i am highly biased.
Aviation-Addiction Information (rhymes!):
Favoured Airlines (From top): Malaysia Airlines - Great service, seats, entertainment, toilet =] Korean Air - nice uniforms, nice seats
Dislike/Hate Airlines (From bottom): China Eastern Airlines - Rather jump off a cliff that fly with that airline again (in other words, they are full of bull waste)
Dislike/Hate Airplanes (From bottom): -A320s (A318, A319, A320, A321) - But to admit, very profitable in Airline Mogul =] -A330s (-200, -300) - just simply horrible. -A380s (-800) - ugly, fat, take up too much space
Airline (Aircrafts) flown on: AirAsia X (Airbus A330-300) - Innovative Air China (Boeing 737-XXX) - Boring... China Eastern Airlines (Boeing 737-400) - I shall curse them to bankruptcy =] EVA Air (Airbus A330-200) - Nice Hainan Airlines (Boeing 767-300) - Random As... Korean Air (Airbus A330-300) - Nice....uniforms....and seats Malaysia Airlines (Airbus A330-300, Boeing 737-400, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 777-200ER) - Best Virgin Blue (Boeing 737-700) - Funny

Hi All,
My name is Mark, a 29 year old English ESL teacher teaching at a public high school in South Korea. I hail from Canada but have been working here for over 5 years. I will probably be working here for a few more to save up for a house/school/kid/mortgage :-\
I just got into AM maybe a few weeks ago...it's quite addictive. I even got some of a bunch of my clan buddies (from a game called battlefield 1942) addicted to this too.
Favourite Airlines Can't say anything negative I guess as I've really only been on 3: Korean Airlines - Relatively lovely...uniforms and a relatively smooth flight. I got bumped up to business class on the flight home from Incheon - Toronto so I will always think highly of them. :D Northwest Airlines - A relatively bumpy flight but I arrived in one piece. Upon landing, I noticed some water dripping in the cabin near the emergency exit doors (I think that's normal though but it still scared the heck out of me). Air Canada - A relatively delayed flight but arrived in one piece. After waiting over an hour for them to take out the luggage of a family that checked it in but failed to fly and then being qued to be de-iced. Running across Vancouver's terminal to make my connection was less than fun but they did wait thankfully...
Favorite Airplanes: I like them all I guess. I suppose I like any of the newer planes built after the 80's. Boeings, Airbuses, McD's...
Most used airplane in AM Cross between fokkers (very economical and affordable) and the caravelles (currently in the late 60's). I know they weren't used heavily in real life but their price and stats are solid in the game.
Have been passenger in: Many kinds of planes...too many to remember. I did get to visit the cockpit once when I was very young (too bad I can't remember). I also had a simple Air Canada puzzle that I loved to death as a child...
Have been pilot in: A zero, Aichival, Aichival T, SDB Dauntless, SDB-T Dauntless, BF 109, Mustang, Spitfire, B-17, Lancaster, Ilyushin (in battlefield 1942 of course! :D ). My horrible sight prevents me from being allowed to even THINK of flying a plane.
Want to fly once in: Does a hang glider count? :D Maybe a cessna would be something neat to try someday...
When not playing AM I like to: Play battlefield 1942 (my clan is 5th MRC) engage in a train simulator known as Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004. I love trains the most, but planes follow only by a very close second. Enjoy my time relaxing...
Nice to read about you guys! Cheers! 8)
Mr. Gisa ^^
