Basing at any city with 15 million pax and above will prove very profitable flying to any city, and extremely profitable fying between this city and an equally large city.
ie.

Sydney (30 Million pax) to Bathurst (300pax) - about 30,000 Euros profit

Sydney (30 Million pax) to Melbourne (22 Million Pax) - anywhere from 50,000 to 120,000 Euros profit (Depending on what plane, larger or smaller)

Also, planes with over 400 seats tend to become unprofitable, so 767's are probably a good longhaul plane, as they seat a reasonable amount of passengers.

Just keep away from large cities like London, Frankfurt, Paris, etc.

Probably any airport that costs at least 250,000 euros is really good. $300,000 and $350,000 are even better if you aren't scared of price wars.

300k/350k airports are quite good at the first few years / months of the game

(It depends on the game itself is attractive or not)

250k airports are prob. the best place for those who dun want to struggle for survival and spending hours to edit the routes
