Title: Riddle time!
Post by: Bobandirus on September 02, 2008, 09:20:18 am
If you know this, dont answer, leave it for the others to figure out :) NO CHEATING ON THE INTERNET!
Just to warn you, the answer is a few posts down, if you try it without cheeting, please post the time that you took to solve it :)
Here it is:
3 men walk into a hotel and want one room for the night (yum! :-*). The Person behind the desk says that its £30, so they each pay £10. When they are in the lift, the person behind the desk realises that she made a mistake, and that its only £25, so gives the bellboy 5 £1 coins to give them back. When he is in the lift, he desides to keep £2, as they will never know, so he gives them back £1. This means they have each payed £9. Here is the problem. Three times nine is £27, add the £2 that the bell boy took, and your only at £29, where is the last £1??
Have fun! Andrew

What last £1? The 3 men payed £27. £25 went to the hotel, £2 to the smart guy. £25 + £2 = £27 = 3 x £9.

There's your answer ;)
£1 is essentially lost in calculation.

Yup. The Text reads that you take the £3 from the original £30, but then the text reads that you are adding the £2 that he took back on! Noone ever seems to spot this untill after a long time of thinking.
