Use factorization.

40 = 8*5

so (g-8 )(g+5) = 0

=> g = -5 or 8

thats in trinomial in a product form?

Try reading your book. It may give some clues. :wink:

We do that ,too (in Germany). Only problem is: Some algorythms of the calculator that we HAVE to use are buggy as hell- for example it should multiply/add vectors for us and the tasks in our end-of-highschool tests will be very hard to do without a calculator. Unfortunately our calculator refuses to work with    3d- vectors that have a 0 or a 0.x in their last variable :roll:

My math book has no answers- which is a good thing, because the answers in a seperate book that is available to my teachers usually only get 70% of the answers right :lol:

I love maths....well certain sections. my favourite is pythagorus, sin, cos, tan and Parabola equations. LOVE EM. No im not a nerd. Sorry not really a fan of this type. trinomials.

Im from Australia and we use calculators aswell, but it's basically illegal in tests. GAH! oh well.

Well, be happy with that situation. I tell you, if the calculator refuses to calculate you're done with your tests here in Germany :?
