Title: Ilyushin Il-76TD
Post by: Daniel-alanova on May 01, 2008, 11:27:21 am
According to Wikipedia, the Il-76TD is a transport aircraft, not a passenger aircraft.

I know, Wikipedia is not 100% reliable, but I guess in that case, the Il-76TD should probably be deleted from the game, unless cargo arrives.

Probably it could be changed to Il-86, which is a passenger plane, but it is already in operation in AM.

Maybe you could offer the operators of Il-76TD some free compensation planes, that have similar specs?

We have had this discussion before... and the plane remains.

If it's cargo only... where did you get the pax details for it?

It can also be used for transporting passengers.

Pax details were pulled from Jane's All The World's Aircraft editions 84-85, 85-86, 76-77, 77-78.  Those are just from my personal collection at the moment.  All of the above mention the Il-76T/TD's (the civil variants) ability to accommodate 3 quick-change modules each seating 30 passengers in 4 abreast seating.  Our present database sets sufficient precedent in accommodating some of the more unusual or rare plane types and variants, so these modules (rare or not), seem to sufficiently warrant the Il-76T/TD's presence in game.  Eventually, however, it may be shifted from Commercial Pax to QuickChange/Combi when we can support such features.

The only difference between a passenger plane and a cargo plane is that the passenger plane has seats instead of wide-open spaces to put stuff instead of people. I mean that's all there is to it. Technically you can put seats in an A300 Super transporter and carry passengers....

Same as in the A300, I guess, with lots of space in the overhead compartments...

I figured you could add a couple decks up where the bulge is, and add more seats.

It would have ended ferrying mail between Moscow and Alma-Ata anyway, like the Tu-144 :)
