Uhm. i know I definitely did not select any airports from Australiasia... selected gates only from North America (in this instance, in total only from NA/Central A).
Marshall-Don Hunter (MDM) is according to the Great Circle Mapper... located as Monduku PG, yet it should be located in Alaska, USA. (I think it's the mapper's fault, but mildly annoying). The game itself seems to register MDM properly for distance calculations, just yes. Strangeness.
