Title: Game Data Forum Guidelines
Post by: MrOrange on March 31, 2008, 06:31:45 pm
First of all, thanks for helping the AM Staff with the updates of all the in-game data. To make sure everything works the way it should, we would like to remind you of the following few things you need to think about before posting game data updates.
Please quote your sources.
We want our data to be as correct as possible. Therefore, we will check if the data you supplied us with is correct. To do that, we must have access to the same source you used to supply us. If the admins think a source is not reliable enough to use, they will post that in your thread.
Please supply all the information needed to identify the right airport / airplane.
To let us know what to update, in the case of a data update for an airport please supply the airport's ICAO or IATA codes, or even the in-game airport ID. For an aircraft, the manufacturer and model name are sufficient.
Don't panic if your thread is deleted.
To keep the Game Data forum clean and efficient, from now on we will delete a thread as soon as the data supplied in that thread has been implemented in the game. So no worries, if your thread has gone missing it's probably because it has been noticed by an admin. If the data you supplied has not been implemented yet, but your thread has been deleted, please contact an admin before re-posting. To prevent problems with running games, some data is only updated between rounds.[/list]We would like to thank you in advance for helping us to improve Airline Mogul. If you have any questions, feel free to ask a staff member.

So if I send you PDF files that contain many airports of a country (as I recently did with Brazil and Russia) do I also have to post their ID, ICAO or IATA?

As long as they have an identifier other than the airport name. In AM we use airport Id's not Codes as the unique identifier.

In addition to MrOrange's post:
Please do NOT:
-guess the pax/cargo numbers -add up the pax numbers from the last years -take the numbers of aircraft movements and use them as pax numbers
Please do ALWAYS:
-name the source for your pax/cargo data.
This will save us a lot of time for searching we could rather spend on game improvements.
