Title: What Is A Broker?
Post by: AlexReid on March 08, 2008, 11:05:29 pm
Hello,
I have just spent £60.000.000 brokering a 737. However I dont have a clue what all this Broker stuff is. Can someone explain it to me?
I clicked on Broker Requests and then Clicked View on a 737-200, then clicked Broker Aircraft.
My money was deducted 60.000.000, but what happens now?
Regards, Alex

You're buying the plane for someone else. You are fronting the money and if there is a markup, then that's the profit you make when the other person pays you for the plane once it is built.

Thanks for the quick reply. So must I order the plane sepereately or do I just do nothing now?
Also how does this increase my profit as I've had to pay £60.000.000?

You do nothing. When the plane is done being built, then the person you brokered for will have 3 months in game to pay you for it (3 days in real life).
The profit increase is only if there was a markup percentage. I've brokered some planes at 2% & 3%, so that means the profit I make is 2% or 3% of the cost of the plane.

OK, so what was the point of me doing this if there was no Markup Value?

That if they dont take delivery after 3 days, it becomes yours. Anyway official brokers have a -5% on any aircraft they purchase, which makes the 0% markup ones appealing to them.

it also puts your airline value up by how much the aircraft costs :D

Nothing. A beginner's mistake, but that's OK.
The only time I would broker for 0% (or lower) is for a fellow alliance member. I'm not an official broker (there are only 4) so I don't get a discount on any aircraft.
