Base Aircraft Number
eg: CAI BAE 1
That way I can sort on the name field and glance down the column to see how many and what type for aircraft are running out of each base.

First two letters of ICAO of the airline, then random letter. After that, 1 letter of ICAO then two letters

I use different series of Western/Alaskan themes. Such as, rivers, mountain ranges, peaks, national parks, famous explorers/writers/activists, cities, hubs and states.
My "flagship" plane is always called Spirit of the West.

Simple...mainly when it comes to multiple bases. Pretty much goes like this
TPE 1 TPE 2 TPE 3 BOM 1 BOM 2 Etc etc. Keeps it simple if trying to find which plane is going out of which base :?

mine all receive reg. #s based on aircraft type and which devision it is in. my long-haul fleet also gets names based on classic rock songs, but no names for the domestic and regional fleets
N###FB = mainline N###FC = cargo (when ever that starts being active in the game) N###FS = shuttle
example from my 1970's fleet:
N863FB Douglas DC-8-61 "Kashmir"
i like classic rock if you cant tell ;)

I forgot to mention that I put simulated regs on my aircraft too.
The number series are forms of NxxxDA or NxxxAK, and each fleet type gets its own numbering subset.
N100DA is always my first aircraft; two-number planes are generally stop-gap types to be leased/sold as soon as economically possible, and three-number aircraft are part of the permanent fleet.

I used to do Pan Am style but now I go by country and aircraft.
E.g. BAe-146 = A6-FAA - Country designator-F (initial for my airline) A (Designator for BAE 146 as it was the first type in my fleet) A (the first bae 146)
ANother example.
EMB-110P2A A6-FBA. Thus it is from FL350, it is type B (in this case an EMB-110) and the first one.
(THis is how Air NZ Does it - same with most other airlines I think)

Right now, my aircraft aren't named, but I think I might have an idea. I have decided to name my aircraft after geograhical points of interest throughout PA and the Northeast. (Monongahela, Allegheny, Ohio, Youghiogheny, Susquehanna, Mt. Davis, Tuscarora, Hudson, Seneca.
I might even give them a theme based on base location as well.

I am naming my BGA Link fleet (Shorts 360s) after regional names/afiliations of the Northeast (Pittsburgh based), and my DC based aircraft are named after senators and state governors. Fokker and DC9 aircraft will be named after first ladies (DC) or physical landmarks in the region (PIT), and Boeing and L-1011s will be named after fmr presidents (DC) as well as more landmarks (PIT).

It depends. If they are aircraft I'm selling or leasing through Midwest Aircraft Sales, they are named "Midwest Aircraft Sales". If they are in my airline's fleet, I name them after what city gives me the most DOP such as "Spirit Of Seattle".

I am actually giving my somewhat of an IATA-type name: BGA-1201 (737s) BGA-1101/1151 (DC-9s) etc...

Mine is easy:
Choose a starting registration (My 146 was G-FBPA)
Change one of the letters for a new type (My next type, F27-500s became G-FBQA/B/C...)
I am selling all my aircraft apart from the F27s, leaving my fleet as: G-FBQA G-FBQB G-FBQC G-FBQD G-FBQE G-FBQF
I then bought Dornier 3 DO-28 D2s which got the regs: G-FBRA G-FBRB G-FBRC These are now up for sale.
I also run a small broker business, which has 2 aircraft on order at the moment:
G-FBSA (727-100 bound for Asian Express) G-FBTA (F28-3000 bound for Denali)
The letter for these depends on the customer, rather than the type.

that's it so far
