Which aircraft in the 60-80 seat market will you choose? I'm leaning towards the NAMC YS-11A-200.

Neither. I've got something else up my sleeve that I feel better balances the speed, fuel, turn times as well as cost and pax capacity for what my intended uses are going to be.

Grr I thought I put an option for 'none of the above'.
Care to share Mr. Underwair? I've gone through every aircraft in the 40-60 seat class and those were a couple I singled out.

Well, I only played last round and I started late, so I had the benefit of seeing what everyone else was buying and what they already had which was a lot of Fokkers. So I went with 737's in order to have the larger planes which helped me better dictate the fare on the route. Since I don't have that benefit this time around, I'm trying to predict what the players are going to do and I'm planning to save a while longer and jump straight to 80-100 seaters after I get my start up aircraft.
IF I go with 40-60 seaters though, I'm planning to go with HS-748 Srs 2As. Compared to the NAMC it has two more seats, is 4 knots slower, has a slightly shorter range but is equal in fuel burn, turn time and crew. The 4 knots is barely enough to result in being able to run an extra 1 or .5 route and range is over kill for me since I'm a regional carrier per se. So for 100k less I get basically the same craft with two extra seats.

Seems smart. Although I have heard it's better to progress slowly (in terms of aircraft), eg lots of airlines got way behind last round while saving for 737's- buy more smaller planes, then later on it will take a lot less time to save up.

Correct, but I'm not going to save up for one of those as my first plane because as you said; that's too long to wait.
I haven't played a start of a round yet so this will be a learning curve, but I'm assuming a LOT of players are going to rush out to buy the first planes they can afford - the sub 1.5M 10-12 seaters. So I'm planning to hold out a few hours (days) longer, check my competitors "on order" list and then order something with about ten seats more.

Yeah, it seems strange ordering something smaller than the start aircraft. For all routes, I won't go below 30 seats as a rule.

Convair 580! Great Speed and Great Range which allows many flights! Last round the medium profit of my C580 fleet was around 300.000€!

Just as I predicted... The first ordered plane I've noticed so far is a 15 seat AN-14M. I'm going to come back from dinner and research my competition's moves before I make my own.

F27-600; cost/asm is the second lowest in the game this round. While the range is a bit on the short side (655), it is good enough to support ~20 planes from 2 bases, which should yield enough DOP to graduate from the 40-60 seat category.

I used these as they were the perfect balance for my regional airline. Just enough cap and range for most of my destinations.

I think for pax,the CV-600 series is really good as well as the CV-580. Both have quick turn times and good on fuel. The NAMC YS-11 was wayyyy under powered, hence why they werent widely used. Convairs had nice roomy cabins, only draw back with the CV-600 was she was extremely loud. I rode on both the CV-580 & 600 many years ago,and enjoyed the flights on them.
