Banning happens for only a couple of reasons...... Most of them not good ones. I felt that your dirt laundry was about to get aired out. I mearly prevented that in an open post. The reasons behind a player being banned do not make good forum fodder and should be dealt with in PM's or private e-mails....
If and when the ban is lifted, you can pm me or any other mod or a member of the admin team and get the thread reopened.

Who here beliefs that 2 accounts registered back to back, with consecutive account id, using the same person's information and email address are in fact for two different persons? And those two people are a 6 yo genius, and his older brother who was the one registered?
I could tell you one thing... no one in the irc chat channel or on the admin team believe that fully. If you want, I could even start a poll... bvut what is the point?

Basically, I suspended 2 accounts, id 8869 and 8870. They are both registered to Matthew Wan.

May I ask you back a question?
We don't expect a 6 yo to have an email address, but do you expect us to believe a 6 yo is capable to play AM, letalone "loves" playing AM? (and note: the 6 yo doesn't even has an email~)
If that is the truth, I congratulate you for having a brother that smart. However, we do find it quite hard to believe (and if it is a lie, which I am not saying it is, or isn't, you need to try harder next time). We have been asking questions around, and especially to our group of "sounding boards", a group of players who we have regular contacts with, and whose opinion we take very much into consideration. That results in the delay of respond to your previous email. The issue is that of all members in the AM community we have asked, no one has found your claim valid, or at least they don't think it is a wholesome fact/truth by itself. As a result, we would have no choice but to ask you for more prove on this issue, in order to maintain the fairness of this game.

His friend, has a elder brother. He plays AM too. That's why that 8yrs old guy plays AM.

One more question, the very very last one.
If your 'sounding board' is 'real powerful', please find out are there any trade between both accounts.
It is not a problem if you do not believe me or do not believe I have a brother who plays AM, but you must respect him, at least don't say any bad things about him.

my opinion would be that provided he brings further proof of what he claims, in this very case could he have is account back, and maybe advise him to create a separate email for his brother that he would manage. other than that, and regarding his poor behaviour, I would keep it banned.

If you read the email correspondences in detail, you would see that I asked for proves in the third quote, which is my response to the user's reply. I have not received any so far, and therefore, I have no foundation whatsoever to proceed with this case. If you ask Stephen, or Bruno, or anyone in the IRC channel, I have asked them repeatedly for their opinions, but I still can't come up with what to do.
So... maybe it is a good thing to bring it up here, and we could decide as a community, as long as we stay claim and objective (like I am right now).

My younger brother plays AM because he saw his friend(like 8-9yrs old) plays AM.
At that them, I do not believe my 6-years old brother can say sth like AM because I don't believe my brother knows about online games! And he keep begging me because that guy introduce AM to him.

I open one for myself have two reasons.
1 - I found AM is interesting
2 - In order to teach my brother, because he do not know how to play! I am very sure! I dun believe he can play it without my teaching.

1 - I cannot delete his account because I promised that I will teach him!
2 - I will not give up AM because I found AM is interesting. That's why I work hard on my airline and airline report.
Daniel, did you ever take a look at my report? I really put many effort on it. If not, please take a look.
For email address, as you do not believe he has a email address, i repeat the very very last time.

What I could say is,
1. You were not honest when you were in control of two accounts. If you have emailed us from the start, who knows? We could very well have let you. But if you are discovered for controlling more than one account, why should we trust you? We give you a fair trial, an open one that is in this case. Both sides have fair opportunities to say what they want to, and the community is the judge. When this is done, all we say is "the tribe has spoken" and do whatever that is needed.
2. As for the sequence of account registering, oh we know. We know about that all along. We are not as ignorant as you make us seem. But then, there is still the chance that you register the first, and then the second, both for your own. You see? The thing is when you talk about you younger brother registering first, it is assumed that the reason for your account suspension is untrue. If the reason is true, then both accounts would be yours. You have provided us with no prove either way at this time. It is only your words.
3. Rule 1b is exactly why you got suspended. If you have followed rule 2, you could have avoided all these troubles by emailing us first. Every case is different, and I would say your example would create a situation where we would investigate. We do use other factors and help judge the validity of our suspiscion.
@bibi974, that is what I want too, but I don't think Matthew is too keen in doing that (for whatever reasons).

Technically, best should be the one and only. However, here we use best for all the reports written by the person, of whom the point of view is from. See all the reports as a group that the same person wrote, and you would understand.
but yes... focus. We aren't here to discuss airline reports, or english for that matter~

That would also be my suggestion. However, there do exist technical difficulties. You see? What kind of prove do we need / want?
Do we want ID cards or birth certificate? Not really. They would be too private, and they ony prove that Matthew has a 6yo brother. We can't use those to judge whether his brother is the one playing :?
Do we want photo? again, same issue with the aboves.
It is hard. Very hard. Maybe someone could come up with something better?

One thing I did come up with was possibly a MSN / skype video conference.... but then again, a 12 yo should not be meeting with strangers online, letalone a 6yo. :?
Photo is not too private, but it can't prove much in reality. I could use photoshop and put my pics of me at 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 20 together, and those of my parents, to get 8 accounts. I was just joking with Bruno, another MO, about this last evening.

Please note firstly that HKSAR Basic Law has no jurisdiction for an address in the United States unless it has performed illegal activities in a HKSAR controlled zone, both physically and/or virtually..
However, you should also note that because the website is a US website, hence, you are virtually visiting US cyberspace. US law applies. Just because you live in Hong Kong does not mean US law does not apply there. Cathay is known to be quite insane with their copyright protection. I, like most people on this board probebly do collect Diecast airliners, and the only ones that have the proper manufacturing rights produce them exclusivly for CX, so there are pirated models floating around that CX goes around trying to find and take legal action against, even though I see them sueing AM or the 2 involved here as a very bad PR move if they do. Otherwise, they would need to start sueing people who play Aerobiz on the Super Nintendo and name their airline "Cathay Pacific" (Free game, player is not profiting off the name). AA is sorta the same too until recently when it came to (free) Flightsim repaints, if you wanted to do one, you had to obtain the licnese from AA or state that you're not affliated with AA. I remember someoen made a "American Sucks" DC-9 over that for Flight Sim 98. :lol:
Anyways, after reading all 7 pages of this I'm gonna have to say, it would be highly difficult to prove that Cathay Express's brother does play this game and the best proof (and maybe the only way) is someone visiting him and watching him play. Though I'm highly amazed that a 6 year old would be very interested in playing AM let alone know how to play it (though like dktc said, he could be just really smart). If I was his age, I probebly would be bored to death since it wouldn't interest me at such a age when I'm still learning basic math and how to read, but that is my opinion. The fact you guys had a similar name and a id number very close to each other sets off alarm bells to most anyone who is paying attention. But I would try to be polite to the admin, they do have a very hard job to do making sure that there is no one cheating. I guess the best thing to do is to wait until your banning period is over.

Ok, technically, if you make 2 accounts on the same email, that is usually reguarded as cheating (you can do various things with 2 accounts that would create some very unfair advantages). There are other ways too I think, but it would involve exploiting some bugs and such (like having 3 .5s on ONE route), that will also get you banned.

give the guy some credit, Ive been here since the very beginning of this thread, he didn't say his 6yo brother plays alone, he teaches him how to play. I agree that can mean a lot(maybe he actually play both account and just let his younger brother click some buttons) but still.
