Sorry about these posts, I have deleted all that I can because apparently I can't moderate every forum or delete people that join. (Murhphy maybe you could let me ;) ) Thanks for your patience until Stephen gets online tommorow.

Were these bots? A friend of mine with a different online game site modified his phpbb a little and it's all but eliminated bots since. "Not a bot has gotten through since I fiddled with stuff. " he says (i haven't seen any so i believe him).

1)  made a default field hidden.  If any data comes through:  die
2)  moved a default field far, far off screen using a DIV.   If any data comes through:  die
3)  Changed the name of the 'email' field to 'craig'
4)  Added another 'email' field in a off-screen DIV.  Any data comes through:  die.

Bots see the fields humans don't, so it's relatively harmless to real people yet relatively effective against bots.

Okay.

I would strongly suggest you do this on a development machine first

Step One. Make a backup HTML copy of your registration form.
Step Two. Make a backup of your MySQL PHPBB database.
Step Three. Disable new registrations.
Step Four. Create a page inside AM that includes (ENglish include, not PHP include) that HTML form.
Step Five. Process and insert new row/relevant data into PhpBB.

Done.

Further questions may be asked and I take no responsibility in answering them since I'm an Invision Board guy, not a PHPBB guy.

PS: If you wanna switch....to anti-bot forum software ;) Just gimme a ring

I reiterate these suggestions, as they are still working perfectly well on the other game i play that used these on phpbb. (as a spambot recently posted a lot here)
