Title: Speed and Range vs. Capacity
Post by: Osprey on December 24, 2007, 07:10:44 am
In my current planning, early on I see myself buying either one of two planes to run transcon routes:

Fairchild-Hiller FH-227B--56 seats--255MPH--2678mi--~$11 mil
Gulfstream II--19 seats--508MPH--3450mi--~$12 mil

My question now is which will make more money for transcon routes, the Gulf(1 mil more expensive) which has fewer seats but greater range and speed or the FH-227B(1 mil less than Gulf) with more seats but less range and 250MPH slower?

While I still plan to do the guess and test with these 2 planes, which one do you guys think will make me the most money?

Really...don't bother with Transcons until you have a nice shorthaul network.

You can run shorthauls with cheaper planes than those and actually make more cash!

This has always been my plan of attack in this game, but I always seem to get in on the transcon network from my first hub too late.

Let the idiots who jump too early lose potential money.  Being a late joiner is a good thing.

Unless you're based in Africa or Australiasia (or Hawaii), is it correct to assume...

Capacity > Speed >> Range ?
