In the beginning I always name my fleet. Later on, when I've got like 5 orders every night, I step it back a little...

I used to name them after Rivers and Lakes around Ireland. Aer Lingus name their planes after Saints and Iarnród Éireann names its trains after rivers. So thats basically where I got my idea. :)

I used to give them names and a reg, but as more and more planes got into the fleet, I found it easier to just give them regs.

I used to name them after famous Dutch things, like: "Boerenkool", "Kaas", "Wiet" and dutch cities like "Breda" :D Last round I gave them the airport code at wich they were based since I had several hubs there, but soon I found out that that was impossible to keep on doing (with 400+ aircraft), this year I already stopped when I had like 30 aircraft

Norfolk Number 25 From Russia With Love (First Russian Tu-70)
I had a "From Russia with Love" as well! Actually, I had planes with all the Bond-names exept for "Casino Royale". Many planes also had their names from Cities, bands I listened to when I named the planes or from songs. For example, I had 4 or 5 planes called "Bad Religion", at least 3 called "Dimmu Borgir", 2 called "Stormbl°ast" and one named "Along the Way".

First I gave them various animal names. My first Comets name was "Falcon" - my first Convairs was "Rhino". Later I named them with the abbreviations of the airpirts included in the routes. Last names just were the first three letter of the base folowed by numbers. One day I stopped that.

I've changed my nomenclature. I now use type-base-number. For example, Connie JFK 2.
If they are multi-base, I'll use the term Multi.
(And we can now sort on Aircraft Name on the View Aircraft page. :))

I did and do some....
If they are lease intended planes, then I call them 'Leased from CornField' Others I did when I was doing some marketing ads. But I've gotten entirely too busy to keep it up though.
Some others have random names, when I buy them used I usually leave the original name of the aircraft.
