Just wondering what people think. Basically TeamSpeak is a voice application where people can talk to one another without having to use text. I have used it for many years and find it quite useful. I'd like to try one for staff members but would the general AM public use one?
-
I think it's a good idea, i mean, its easier to have someone to talk to rather than wait for a reply in the forums.

no
as my English is too poor

Thats the biggest drawback I can see. For those not fluent in spoken English it may be a problem.

I'd think an IRC channel would be better since not everyone has a mic. I've personally had problems setting TS up, mainly audio quality issues.
-
Translators possibly? :D

I like you guys and all, but c'mon, this isn't BF2 or a shooter. I'd consider doing my own TS for an alliance, but I can't imagine what I'd have to say to everyone in general that can't be said here.

Excellent point!

i think making an ircserver with optional java frontend on the am site is a better first step, if that works out well and is recieved positively and established, a voip system can be added

Personally, I prefer IRC as well.
I could be in whatever background and still type and I could listen to the radio (online) as well while using it.
(oh.. and for those who don't know, IRC stands for Internet Relayed Chat. It is a chatroom where you type instead of speak, kind of like IM but with a lot of users.)

urgh.. whats the point of using TS? this isn't one of those games where people need to get their point across in the next 2-3 seconds.. plus.. in real life airlines dun really set up deals, and alliances over the phone do they? Paper work, its always paper work.
-
We could use a TS server with different channels for different languages. Personally I'd find it quite convenient.
I've never worked with IRC though. Is it just an instant messenger like icq?

I dont use TeamSpeak for those kind of games. For the organisation I use it with, it has evolved into a social item more than anything else.
