It's too bad I couldn't keep some of the aircraft I bought. :o

Although that would definitely lead to a disadvantage for those with large fleets.

Yah, I'd really like to see everyone flying around with their 77W fleet in the '60s :roll:

Naw, that would just be ridiculous!

A new round = a new start. Everyone on the same level so it makes for interesting results.

Sorry, but I have never gone through the transition to a new round before, what happens during the reset?  Do we get to choose a new starting airport and what aircraft do we start with?  Also, what year do we restart at?
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: rodendack on September 20, 2007, 02:27:35 am
will we got to 2007?, if we do it would be very long

I believe that it should be a shorter game, since routes won´t so long as now, so we should cover our available airport range faster
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: dktc on September 20, 2007, 02:31:04 am
The next round would be 1960~1970. Don't know what aircraft we will start with yet (ask d1-3508). You get to choose a new base airport, although if you want to change continent, you would have to go through an admin.

Edited by d1-3508, to reflect the truth :wink:

(edit by dktc: hey dl-3508, shouldn't you be out of office? :wink: )

Well if people want we can run straight through but look at the game now, its only been 6 years ingame and imagine 46!
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: Jps on September 20, 2007, 01:09:53 pm
46 would be horrible... new airlines would die before they even create their second route  :D ?
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: SJR on September 20, 2007, 04:46:49 pm
Would this mean we would lose an aircraft such as Concorde! If so thats horrible but i see what you are saying about 46 game years. See if i can become the largest airline this time round. Doubt it since there are so many others with more experience than me. Oh well i can try!
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: StephenM on September 20, 2007, 05:08:07 pm
No airline should have a concorde in this round, we cleared out quite a lot. Concordes will be available to purchase when we reach its service entry year however.
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: SJR on September 20, 2007, 05:12:32 pm
I know i was talking about future ages. I wish i had a Concorde now but i dont.  :D
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: Air Elbonia on September 20, 2007, 07:03:52 pm
Future ages fly the aircraft of the era, those that become available during that period or are available at the start of the period.

the next age (if it is 1960s) would then likely include aircraft from between 1941 and 1969 as options, as in AM most aircraft are assumed to have 20 years of production by the manufacturers.

ID is always unchanged.
Name, you can keep it or change it as you like. (YOu could even change it in the middle of a round... or every single day :roll: )

Although from an aviation standpoint the IDs 7500 and 7700 should be on a black list. Anyone who knows about squawk codes will realise why. Only ID changes would be done at resets, means updating 2 items. A plane and a row in the user table... Quite easy. :D

You know that I am better than you. I crushed you all 3 times in a row on the last version, my secret - doind routes 1 x per day from somewhere with large passenger flowthrough (Heathrow, Stansted, Antalya, Munich, Oslo) as well as a few because I know the airports (Valladolid, Exeter, St Mary's, Venice Treviso) as long as it is 1 frequency a day, you got the most money per frequency than if you did multi frequencies, which negates the gate costs.

How to make money in AM:  "Mow the lawn"

Although the next round is tentatively 10 game years, I guess the mods can monitor the game situation and come to a decision at around 1963-64 on the actual length of the round.  At the moment, one can expand in AM much faster than the blue site so 10 years might actually be overkill!

I also personally think peoples IDs should be kept as is.  The demand for ID changes seem higher than expected and it would take valuable time away from our developers doing a trivial task when they could be doing something useful like developing this game further (or watching Chelsea killing Arsenal :P).

What about airport data? If we start a new round in '60s, will they change? And demand, will it change?
Title: Discussion: Next Round of AM
Post by: Jps on September 22, 2007, 12:47:14 pm
The answer is no... it would take a lot of time to see what airports existed in the 60's..?

Note: this is a quote from an old thread..

Stephen M:
"Remember, I've never said whats for definate. Wink

Some planes that are possibilities now since looking them up:

    * Avro York
    * AS.57 Ambassador
    * Vickers Viscount
    * Vickers VC.1 Viking
    * Sud-Est Armagnac
    * Tupolev Tu-70 (Never actually produced)
    * Boeing 307 (377 might be a tad big)
    * Convair 240
    * Douglas DC-4
    * Douglas DC-6
    * Lockheed Constellation

All aircraft are from 1940-1949 era.

One thing we can do is have a choice, and have certain types per continent. So if starting in Europe you get European planes, in the US local planes etc."

But i suggest DC-3  :D

The alliance function would still be there. Just that you have to start the alliances again (ie the data of alliance would probably not get transferred to the next round).

what? but this round is 2000-07 right? and this page http://208.68.236.98/airlinemogul/view_all_aircraft.php says the 707 was phased out in 1977, and the 727 in 1987, so how could you have gotten them? You're not allowed to keep aircraft from the previous era are you?

So I said we sometimes play realistically sometimes not
In real life airline can keep classic planes for any reasons
In this game, we can't simply because they were from the decades ago

whats the sense, now people say "i am bored reset early 1 week". next time, 1 week before the early reset, people will say whats the point, lets reset early.
it is about having a consistent plan to work with, if you have end of the round at end of 2007, i am sure many people still had expansion of planes in order till now.

look at kfai and momo, who are fighting for first spot, both still have way over 100 773ER on order, there is alot of money in this planes to try to change battle, and even if not, why make game stop?
and not only for top players, i have started in late 2003 of round but have motivation to get in top30, i am still recieving over 50 widebody before summermonths to increase profits even more, to get my top30 goal after late start.
game might be boring for some, but for i think same amount of players or even more, its not over already. just look at vote in other area.

Hopefully less.  then up to a 24 hour period where the hrly script isn't moving, so everyone can catch up.  There's likely to be a mass email when the age officially starts.

Read the new at the homepage. The game would stop at 24 Dec, 07 in game date. Do your own calculation.

If you've seen the list of planes in the game, there are cargo planes (MD-11F and F-27 Cargo I know for sure), but that is a feature that is not ready to be used.

As for the Aircraft whose name should not be spoken, next round, you'll probebly get to operate a B377, which is like the plane whose name is not spoken, but from the late 40s/early 50s. Also, how do we know that the plane whose name will not be spoken will be in commercial service by Sept 2008? We should be happy wit the current choices they give us. It is more than most games I've ever seen.

Here is a link to the image that I tried showing above.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d3/Nw_b377_cutaway_view.jpg

I personally can't wait for the next round to see what interesting changes will be made. As long as the game is playable and without too many serious bugs, I'll be happy.

I would say that plane would be in servcie by the time we get to 2008. The thing is, there is no way to ensure it remains in service :roll:

Anyway, it is not in the next round, so before Stephen locks this... let's get back on track (I wanted to say let me lock this first :P )
