This is garbage... Why did all my gates at Midway get released??? I had 15... Now I can't expand anymore since my gates are magically gone.. What's going on?? I had enough DOP to easily pay for them, I was using over 1/3 of the gates.... Somehow they all got magically released... This game sucks...

If not, they would have been removed by the EOM (end of month) script.

If you afford to pay for the rent you should be able to keep what you want....
How else can you expand your base?

Secondly, it's to avoid gate hogging that can occur.

Gates are automatically released for disuse because it would be all too simple for a large airline to simply rent up a huge amount of excess gates and thereby squash competition. Mind you, even now this still can (and sometimes does) occur, but until we get terminals finished up and launched there is no value in changing this.
Sorry you lost your gates, but you gotta use 'em or lose 'em.

Then why charge for them right as I get them??? You should charge at the end of the month after the gates are released.... Otherwise I'm paying for something I won't be able to keep.....

The reason why there are so many changes is to stop people from renting them all and creating monolopolies at airports, granted its still happening with regard to some airlines but we have moved to fix that.

Frankly... no one forces you to be here. I know this is not what I am supposed to be saying as a mod, but I am just being honest. If you think this little "feature" piss you off that much, I don't really see "success" for you in this game.

And honestly, the game would be far worse if one airline was allowed to rent 200 gates and not use them. And trust me, you wouldn't be happy. To say the least.

I did infact type suking.
I believe my original comment was.
Stop suking, i think I missed out the "L", which in a round about way was a sarcastic comment meaning. stop sulking. I didn;t mention anything about sexual preference. Infact it was you and d1-3508 who are the ones thinking sexual innuendo.
I'm not trying to flame this either. Just putting my point across.

I apologize for skipping to conclusion (which is how me as a mod see players posting... not that some of you didn't give me that kind of impression... but anyway~~) and for acting immature (like a teen boy, which I am, who think about only a couple of things... and I won't say what). If the admins think it is appropriate, they can take whatever actions they want (including what Daniel has suggested).

Would it be better to have the gates limited as a percentage of total gates? My Airline is realllly tiny and my plane that was on order just came in. I was going to use that slot for that plane. Kinda makes me grumpy.

Ok, this is starting to bug me. It's Aug 1st, and my unused gates (purchased in preparations for a new base, my first) are gone.
DO I get anything for those when they're taken away?

Unused gates get removed at the end of each month. Just rent them out again afterwards and make sure you set up some routes on them before the next month (ie. you have 24 hours)

No, you don't get anything when they're taken away, however they're taken away before the fees are charged, so you pay nothing that month for them.

well... if you really want to limit how an airline grows.... then limit how many gates they can buy per month... lets say 2....
I started a new base... at an airport where no one owned more than 3 gates...
all of a sudden... within an hour... some big airline came through.... bought 10 gates.... and setup routes using them all up....
this is ridiculous... and I can't expand my base again because I can't buy more gates....

That occurred to me about the time I hit send. Makes sense.
I do feel that if you want to encourage competition and alliances that the best thing you can do is to build a percentage limit into the game. secretsquirrel airlines cannot own more than 10% of the gates at any given airport unless it's a base...blah, blah....
I had gates at 2 airports that I had intended to make into bases. I also had a spare at my original starting base (very new to this.) was going to be for .
I'll get used to it, though. It's fun!

See the thread about terminal, which will be implemented after the coming reset. When it is implemented, there will be a cap on the number of gates a player could hold at a certain airport without a terminal.

If that's the case, that you'll pull unused gates at the end of the month, then why require us to purchase 4 gates to create a base? I bought two more bases b/c I couldn't get 4 gates from the original base I had picked, I was only assigned one.
You should be allowed to keep the four gates if it's a base and lose whatever's above the 4 if they aren't in use.
