Post by: Michael on August 14, 2007, 07:59:13 pm
Does membership in an alliance allow to create a new base in other continents??

Not create, no. I think there was some base sharing with one alliance base, but I don't know the status on that.

What a pity,
I had the appetite to create a base in USA. US market seems to be still not fully covered. Some big airports have still just one or two airlines with based aircraft.

Being in an alliance does enable you to use the other members of the alliance's base. You just need to rent a gate there and you create flights from that airport.

If you only just joined an alliance or only just got accepted, then you need to log off then log back in for it to take affect. And you should see the alliance's bases under create route.

Yep, unless the alliance has set itself to 0 base routes.

Yep, but that would be an alliance not worth joining. :)

You said it.  That would therefore defeat the whole purpose of having alliances now would it?! :-)

I might start some flights from LHR to the Middle East to better serve that part of the world as soon as I secure the nedessary planes. :-)
