Title: Daves around the world tour 2012
Post by: davecummings on July 16, 2012, 09:24:36 pm
Well I wanna push my FSX skills and therefore I am planning the following route using a 747-400:

1 London Heathrow - Dubai - 3420m
2 Dubai - Beijing - 3636m
3 Beijing - Tokyo - 1301m
4 Tokyo - Sydney - 4863m
5 Sydney - Honolulu - 5082m
6 Honolulu - Ancorage - 2784m
7 Ancorage - Seattle - 1446m
8 Seattle - Chicargo - 2553m
9 Chicargo - JFK - 946m
10 JFK - LHR - 3446m

I would like to break up stages 4 and 5 any suggestions?

I like your idea, and I have a couple of suggestions for legs 4 and 5.

For leg 4, you could make an intermediate stop at Guam:

For leg 5, you could take several different routes, but I would suggest stopping by Fiji:
(http://www.gcmap.com/map?P=yssy-phnl%0d%0aanyn,nvvv,pkmj,ngta%0d%0ac:yellow,ngfu,nlww,%0d%0ac:green,nffn,yssy-nffn-phnl&MS=wls&MR=540&MX=540x540&PM=b:disc7%2b%25N)
Yellow airports might be too short for a 747.

Okay so we add Guam and Port villa, how about a little US divert as well - Florida then out to saint maarten then up to JFK as well?

I ran out of fuel ~140nm out of Fiji  ??? The A330-300 did glide fine though, so I made it (almost) without problems.

What plane will you use?

Like this? (Phillipsburg=St Maartin)

Where did you get a good 787 (I suppose it's good since you use it)?

You may want think about a A330-200 instead of the 333. The extra 1500nm should come in handy while crossing the Pacific.

Looks like 6373 nm between SYD and ANC as a straight shot, within the range of the A330-200.
