Title: FSX add-on aircraft are grey
Post by: 1993matias on May 02, 2012, 02:04:54 pm
Hi!

My FSX is behaving weird after I re-installed it on my clean computer. I remembered to take a backup of my planes before formatting my computer, so I just copy-pasted my aircraft folder into the new FSX folder (together with effects and gauges). This includes the AI traffic I got from World of AI.

Now, the problem is that all the non-standard planes are grey - they have no texture. This includes *moving* AI planes, the static AI planes (parked aircraft) have their correct textures displayed.

Is there anything I can do other than re-installing all my aircraft and AI traffic? My computer has a clean install of Windows 7 and FSX (excluding the old planes, effects, gauges and scenery which worked well, and FSXpax). Thanks for any help, I appreciate it!

A virtual military regime took over the virtual world and converted all planes into military tanker-transports.

On a more serious note, I've experienced similar things in FS2004. It happened after I installed an add-on containing an incompatible file. I had to remove the add-on. Sometimes I managed to single out that particular file, replacing it with something else from another aircraft if it's a gauge.

Seems weird, as I just copy-pasted the whole effects, gauges and aircraft folder into the new install...

Reverse it then

A quick google revealed the answer to my problem:

Turn off DirectX 10 preview

And it does help! But thanks for your suggestion though :)

Hi!! You should install the flight simulator service pack 1 and 2.

That also happened to me. After that i had no more problems.

:)

I am quite sure I did it, but as I said, I fixed it by de-activating DirectX 10.
Thanks anyway!
