These situations will be dealt with automatically, even though that may take up to two days IIRC. Any unused gates will be returned automatically at the end of the month.

As said, the situation would either resolve itself because gates are returned, or the guy managing the airline will notice people start to hate him for using more gates than nessecary, and he'll return the gates. Still, I'd say situation 1 is the most likely.

Or we'll delete him (but that's if all these gates aren't returned.)

It the same guy. I woke up this morning to discover he had put about 5 aircraft on one route operating at a frequency of 67.5 and his ticket price at 1euro. Really pissed me off, then when I realised he had done the same at Frankfurt pissed me off even more. Some people need to play the game abit better and operate more of how a real world airline would operate.

I've decided to make it all one thread, and move it into bugs.

Again, we're relatively open to suggestions as to what better to do (code-side) to prevent this, but none will likely be perfect or without unforeseen consequences.

Maybe you can make that the highest Gates for Rent is 5! And when you dont need the gates, you cant rent more! Ich have 4 gates left, you can rent 1 more, and you have 5 left. So you can not have so much gates than kapellen airservice, because they dont need them *LOL Sorry for my englisch ;)

How about another method, with any airline that has more than 40 gates an airport their cost goes up per gate to rent. So lets say the price took a very high increase, 10% increase per gate. So your 41st gate would be €330,000.00, 42nd €363,000.00 going up to 50th €778,122.74 and finally if you can afford it, your 100th gate would cost €91,344,491.86. So if you have 100 gates an airport whos base cost is €300,000 your monthly charge for the gates would come to €1,013,489,410.49 I dont think many airlines would be able to afford that. :)

Which the foreseeable consequence is that large airlines wouldn't work because gates are so so expensive. I prefer checking everytime you rent the gates like Denny-Fly suggests.
As for gates being tied down by routes... there is nothing that one could do except tie the gates down first :P

I only like StephenM's method if it will apply to unused gates :) Otherwise, it'd be impossible to run a big airline.

I reckon you should limit the amount of aircraft on one route per airline to say 3 or so. That way people like Kapellen can't stick about 8 aircraft on the one route and buy all the gates, filling their slots.

I just sent a message to Kappelen asking if he could take one of the 6 aircraft off his Rome-Pisa route and return a gate. Doubt he will do it but worth a try. If he doesn't then I'm either changing base or quitting the game til the next time round.

Well he was quite reasonable. Informed me of a vacant gate to rent at Rome, so I snapped it up before someone else had the chance to.

Good to hear he was reasonable. I'll still keep trying to figure out a solution to the problem in general.
the limit of planes/route is possible, but unlikely to have a huge impact (as frankly, it likely would just mean the dumping gets spread out more).

I think I'm not responsible for ITM, I own 34 gates only...instead of 131... For HND, there is where my headquarter located. I'm sharing routes with 9 airlines and I only provide 29% seats...I will try freeing some more gates after restructuring routes from HND.
But you should know that gates in HND will never be enough, just like LHR...the competition in East Asia region is fierece. I noticed that those 65+ players based in HKG earlier have now spread over from big cities to even very small cities in the region...
I have submitted data of new airports in Japan to admins. Hope this will help ease the competition.

I think what dl-3508 means is that those on the lists are the ones practice either one or more of the followings:
- gate hogging - spamming routes with small plane and holding up a large amount of gates because of thhat - "0.5 airlines"
and Dora, you may fall under the "0.5 airlines" category. (this post is just a speculation without judging the rights or wrongs of any players)

Well, kids, watch closely. This is how you can actually use all 130 gates:
One thing's for sure, if you want to fly from Frankfurt to Bremen, you're in for a cheap flight. I can see the press release already:
With 705 flights per day, which is slightly over 29 flights per hour, you are guaranteed a place on a flight. If you happen to miss one, just take the flight leaving two minutes later! It's almost like taking the train, but this is actually faster! Convenience guaranteed. One problem though, with one airplane flying the exact same route every two minutes, in-air delays will be extremely frequent. This is not the fault of our management, it's the fault of the German Air Traffic Controllers. We apologize for their lack of insight when trying to separate 29 airplanes flying the same airways. It should be easy.
Frankfurt Airport has dedicated its entire Terminal A to our flights from Frankfurt to Bremen. We have 71 gates opened for you, so you can check in without having to wait in a line. Please do show up 2 hours before departure time, because with our current schedule, we cannot have any delays.

I am wondering the quality of players here... since this round. We used to have good quality players... but I am not too sure right now :?

Basically, if your ID is 615 or lower, you'll be fine  Well, seriously, the ID actually tells you quite a lot (in most cases)

Well, in that case I would be way out of this "fine-range". ;) With an ID of 1000+ I can't help it. On the other hand you're quite right as the ID lets you estimate how long this particular player is registered to AM and how much he has improved since then.

Maybe we can have a AM lecture to teach new players how to play this game and turn into a good quality player :) I'm a not-so-good player though... :?

Well, it's really true. Most players you tend to find 'low quality' are players with an id over 800. I'm sorry for all those 'high quality' players with +800 ID's, clearly, you're the usual exception to the rule. We can schedule a lecture, but I think reading through this thread and imagining the use of 29 flights per hour in a real-life situation should do

:( I will try my best to improve my 'quality'in this game. But, it is not an easy task for my company to make a balanced decision between the profit and 'quality' .In fact , we can create 0.5 airlines under the game rules,if I give up to create '0.5 airlines' .The other airlines in Asia will also use this methods(0.5airlines) to compete with my company......I will return some extra gates as soon as possible.
Anyway,I hope all of us can enjoy this game.

A lot of things are valid, just some things aren't "appreciated", "liked", "looked-well-upon" or "fair".
