Title: Favorite Turboprop Manufacturer?
Post by: AirbusGuy350 on March 19, 2011, 07:44:54 pm
Everyone gets 2 votes! Please explain your choice! I choose the Bombardier/de Havilland because the Dash 8 i so fast, almost as fast as a jet, but it's a prop so it fairly low cost. I also added ATR because it is best for short regional flights and the fact that it is a EADS joint venture makes it awesome.
In real life I like the ATR better but for AM the Dash 8
Added fokker and antonov

I chose ATR and Bombardier because I like the look of high-wing turboprops. I do also like Embraer, but that is mostly for their ERJ's.

ATR for producing the best, most rugged, best looking, widest cabin, most economical 50 - 70 seat turboprop airliner out there. And it's made in Toulouse, yet isn't an Airbus ;) It is also quite a bit cheaper to operate than the Crash 8.
SAAB for the SAAB 2000. Cool prop, fast, HUGE props, comfortable. The SAAB 2000 Erieye is also cool! Faster than a Crash 8-Q400 too.
As for the Crash-8, it lost my interest when 3 of them crashed within a single month.
BTW, you forgot the 2 greatest Turboprop manufacturers of them all, those who started the craze: Fokker and Antonov

Fokker should have gone in over Cessna. The Grand Caravan is their only turboprop?
I chose ATR (Didn't pick a second...) since I think its a great aircraft. Flown on the 42 and 72 many times.
