It has come to my attention that various site growth (good thing) the hourly script has been dealing with more... 'stuff'.
Of late, thats amounted to enough to start generating some minor issues sending the site down for brief periods. I'm attacking the problem as best i can, squeezing out further efficiency wherever i can.
I've uploaded a new copy, which has a minor efficiency boost and should help me identify better what is taking so long.
Just thought I'd pass this information along, just as an FYI.

Yeap. that one was me.
I've managed to greatly reduce the time it takes for the hrly script to run.
still isn't perfect, but it's a lot more acceptable at present.

nice, Well i got the message again, not a big problem really.. it only last's a maximum of 1 minute anyway.
Good to see the game already booming, this new round is huge compared to earlier day's. :roll:

Sorry, was making two adjustments to indexes in big tables in an effort to reduce traffic jams at hrly updates.
site should be a little better off now (as the hrly script caused a little bit of a delay in the table where aircraft are stored triggering the only, single, site driven cpu exceeded of the day, and i realized cashflow had a pretty redundant index that was easily rid of.)

So we have... hmm. definitely tonight will attempt a patch to one of the more common occuring slow queries which i hope will shave a little time off of it. bloody scary to look at those cpu exceeded logs... takes forever to find the ones that actually "drove" it over the edge as it were. and usually, they're (these days) a few 2-5 second things. The most recent one as of the time of this post was a combined 30 seconds of cpu time on 8-10ish queries, and a loooot of really tiny things.

Patience. It usually takes 10/15 minutes at most for me. Time to start donating money for that upgraded server i guess...

He is running scripts to give people free money..and its going to *cabbage* up the game. He is giving people from the forum (offtopic.com) free money and if you allow it to go on the game is going to get *cabbage*ed.
You shouldn't have given him access he is just running whatever code he wants

to forum administration staff:
there is a wager in progress on offtopic.com (herein referred to as OT) to see if i have created a fake account under the name "sarcean" to expose the person running a money script.
if you could coordinate with the site owner and/or a super-mod on OT and provide both of the IP addresses of me and the member "sarcean" so that the staff on there can compare the two to see who is the real person behind the expose, it would be greatly appreciated.
i have been accused by mutiple parties on OT as a snitch because i spoke out against giving money away.
now i have wagered the accusing parties a permanent ban from the forum plus a lifetime membership.
your coordination would be greatly appreciated.

no, I was only helping the game out by exposing what efiniti was doing. If no one had told the admin alot of *vegetable* could of gone down with out his knowing...Obviously it wasn't you

just the same, as long as the admin on here coordinates with the admin on OT, i'm sure this can all be taken care of. you don't need to be publicly made on OT, just as long as the ruling party has their proof.

got the old http 500 internal server error message.
Definately annoying when you're in the middle of editing routes, but sh%t happens.
Is this down to the large user activity around certain times?

I would say it is about the same thing, although I am not too sure... (waiting for the admins to say something)
@eWRXshun and sarcean, all I can say is grow up! eWRXshun, you are behaving like a elementary school student. sarcean, keep you emotion in check or you will get into trouble.
That being said, anymore posts not directly related to the site being down (ie. not reporting the site being down), will risk being deleted.

@Pod1967: First, thanks, thanks for making the first useful thread-related not-flaming post in a while. The 500 error is probably due to a server error or overload, which could either be because of large activity or some demanding scripts.

error 500 usually pops up for a very short time only.
CPU error page is the one that last longer.

i don't know if this is related but today ive been getting blank pages often when clicking on different pages. No error, and its not around the top of the hour only either, but all the time... though it seems to of calmed down now, im still getting them occasionally. And it's happening on 2 computers from 2 locations too.

edit: And yeah, that site white-screen does happen to just about everyone as near as i can tell... Usually seems to be something running long without triggering the cpu exceeded. trying my best to smash down slow queries that cause the backups. Pondering disabling route history data updates
EDIT: Alright. route histories temporarily disabled (the update, any existing data will remain, of course). this should hopefully cut down on the cascading factor that sends the site down at the hours.
